It's not for nothing. You get a lot more than just raw speed (why 3dfx & ati fans are so fixated on fps I'll never know).

As for me, I indicated long ago that I probably won't be buying until the refresh hits. Nothing I've seen so far has made me want to change my mind about that.

It's not for nothing. You get a lot more than just raw speed (why 3dfx & ati fans are so fixated on fps I'll never know).

i always though you guys were fixiated on raw fps . . . personally i count IQ very high and prefer my textures not to shimmer.

and i have to agree with your waiting . . . i probably will wait till 2nd Gen DX10 HW . . . probably a full year . . . a x1950p should 'hold me' till then.

first of all, it's not 'my team'

secondly, i seriously doubt the '+30% claim' .. . . if it really is . . . as you are seeming to accept . . . then i lose absolutely nothing by waiting for r600 as current rigs can also have the 'latest and greatest' for less cost than g80.

some people are willing to pay 100% more for +25% improvment . . . and that is fine by me ... they help drive the industry

from what i see from the posts . . . so far . . . many current nvidia owners of top systems are satisfied to NOT upgrade . . . sitting this round out . . . IF the specs are true.

Even if there was a DX10 game to play it would most likely be crapped out by EA while blending Far Cry and Quake 4 together to give a tropical, alien FPS. For the hardware to be needed there has to be a demand for it. I just don't see that demand for anything greater than some already mature/available cards. I play every game I have just fine on one X1900XT, and I'm sure that others with either the same card or the Nvidia equivalent feel the same way.

When there is more of a demand for DX10 and finer tuned hardware available, I'll probably buy.

Well, the X1950XTX was first "delayed" and then was born with the head showing around August the 18th or so and the feet never came out until September 14th. Even after they were out the doctor had to go fishing for the toes called the "X1950XTX Crossfire Edition cards" a.k.a. X1950XTX Mastercards. He just recently retrieved them and we now finally have the latest, whole edition of ATI's new product.....

Enough with the labor analogy, the X1950 Pro was launched, and available, but not in the quanity nor price that some projected. Nvidia's 7900GS and 7950GT just kind of fell from the stork without any delays or problems besides being overpriced.

The G80 will be a good choice for people building a new computer this year who don't upgrade the video card every 6 months (even then, by the G80 and upgrade in 6 months).

I have a FX5900 that runs WoW just fine....(the previous comment bashing FX performance).

Yes, their talk about SLI and CF was in the press release, but this thread isn't about the X1950 Pro's PR, it's about the X1950 Pro itself. I get it just fine. You wanted to make this thread a discussion about ATI's crappy PR team and what info they release rather than the X1950 Pro itself.

And just some advice, in order to "ram their FUD back down their throats", you might want to save all of your complaints, rants, opinions, etc for an email to them instead of forum posts among other enthusiasts whom aren't apart of ATI's PR team.

Why not just make a seperate thread calling on all video card enthusiasts and supposed "fanatics" to address their concerns with their "sewer-level" press? If it is really that big of a deal to you I don't see any reason for you to withhold from bringing it to our attention without derailing an already existent thread.
