Because those same 2 people can't accept that progression of technology is always going to be going on and somebody always has to be better than the other. Even though thats good for the consumer they continue to argue.

but who is gonna want to pay $650 . . . for . . . nothing?
by the time it is useful for DX10 games, it'll be too slow to play them . . . just like nv30 with dx9. 😛
ati has nothing to worry about if the +30% is true . . . only a true nvidia fan - or someone hoping for a step-up refresh - would buy one.
probably very expensive to produce and will also be in short supply . . . better get one Nov 8 --IF you really want one close to MSRP. 😛
and there are planty of mindless fans who will pay $850 for one . . . they never learn . . . probably also bought a 7800GTX for $800 way back when . . .
i always though you guys were fixiated on raw fps . . . personally i count IQ very high and prefer my textures not to shimmer.Originally posted by: Gstanfor

It's not for nothing. You get a lot more than just raw speed (why 3dfx & ati fans are so fixated on fps I'll never know).
As for me, I indicated long ago that I probably won't be buying until the refresh hits. Nothing I've seen so far has made me want to change my mind about that.
ATI will have nothing that can touch it until next year... maybe. All they can do this year is paper launch an overpriced mid-range card.Originally posted by: apoppin

Maybe next year your team will have something......maybe.
Perhaps you missed the part where that didn't have anything to do with this thread.Perhaps you missed the part where I was more annoyed about the SLI comments...
The speaker of that sentence even said that they didn't blame ATI for not being able to pin-point the actual street price of the product. Your [relevant] "gernade" was nothing but a failed attempt to burn the thread into another "ATI's PR team sucks!!!" thread. Even if the thread was about that, so what? I'm not exactly a fan of any PR teams unlike some.... I am specifically referring to the second sentence of their press release, which begins as follows:
"Available and shipping today with an estimated street price of US$199 ..."
Depends on the product. I haven't seen availability problems with their X1900XT's recently, and those compete quite well with just about everything. With ATI's delays and availability problems....NVIDIA has no competition these days.
Even if there was a DX10 game to play it would most likely be crapped out by EA while blending Far Cry and Quake 4 together to give a tropical, alien FPS. For the hardware to be needed there has to be a demand for it. I just don't see that demand for anything greater than some already mature/available cards. I play every game I have just fine on one X1900XT, and I'm sure that others with either the same card or the Nvidia equivalent feel the same way.Even if the G80 was only 10% faster it's still the only DirectX 10 on the block.
Heh, that is a ridiculous price for an X1950 Pro. An X1900XT would be better and just about the same.Having little or no stock on a 1950pro and selling what little stock you have for $300 is not going to help their fan base any either.

It's speed depends on certain settings and preferences. While it is playable for me, it may not be for others. Although, one thing is for sure: it sure as hell isn't very popular in the games I play.Just like the X1XXX with HDR+AA

Well, you did have a point. I didn't want to overgeneralize EA's practices, even though I'm sure they don't have a noble one.Ahh! Thanks for changing your sig, josh! I'm glad you came through!
Well, the X1950XTX was first "delayed" and then was born with the head showing around August the 18th or so and the feet never came out until September 14th. Even after they were out the doctor had to go fishing for the toes called the "X1950XTX Crossfire Edition cards" a.k.a. X1950XTX Mastercards. He just recently retrieved them and we now finally have the latest, whole edition of ATI's new product.....Anyways, what's this "paper-launch" I keep hearing with ATI?
My statement was in reference to the 1950pro. The x1900xt is a much better choice with the pro being $300.Originally posted by: josh6079

The G80 will be a good choice for people building a new computer this year who don't upgrade the video card every 6 months (even then, by the G80 and upgrade in 6 months).Even if there was a DX10 game to play it would most likely be crapped out by EA while blending Far Cry and Quake 4 together to give a tropical, alien FPS. Yes, their talk about SLI and CF was in the press release, but this thread isn't about the X1950 Pro's PR, it's about the X1950 Pro itself. I don't understand why you want to concentrate on the moot debate between CF and SLI anyways. It seems to me that you're just wanting to make a mountain out of that pile of crap you call PRs instead of talking about the card itself. The SLi claim was referred to in the nvnews article dealing with ATi's pricing and availabilty, Josh, so yes, it's relevant.
When was I arguing that? I know ATI has been having bad launches recently and have been pretty vocal about it. They just finally got the X1950XTX Mastercards out and the majority of them are more expensive than their slave counter-parts.You can't get the card at ATi's claimed price at the moment. Those who offer it at that price point are (or were at the time) out of stock. Those who do have the card in stock are charging more for it.
What's up with the infatuation with Ackmed? You can't post consitently in a thread without saying, "fanatic" or "Ackmed". I don't need "lasic" surgery in order to differentiate your initiative at trolling. Didn't you say you never start the flames, yet came into this thread throwing a linguistic "gernade" that was nothing but the manufacturers own press release?Perhaps you need some of ackmed's lasic eye surgery if you can't see that...
I'll let it drop just as soon as ATi and the fanatics stop making false claims and comparisons about nvidia's SLi.I don't understand why you want to concentrate on the moot debate between CF and SLI anyways.
You just don't get it do you? That what makes ATi's PR so sewer level (besides the anti-nvidia crap they come out with) - their own press release is total bullshit and I (and many others) love taking their FUD and ramming it back down their throats.yet came into this thread throwing a linguistic "gernade" that was nothing but the manufacturers own press release?
Where in this thread have they done that? Where in this forum have there been "fanatics" going around saying CF is better than SLI?I'll let it drop just as soon as ATi and the fanatics stop making false claims and comparisons about nvidia's SLi.
I get it just fine. You wanted to make this thread a discussion about ATI's crappy PR team and what info they release rather than the X1950 Pro itself. You just don't get it do you? That what makes ATi's PR so sewer level (besides the anti-nvidia crap they come out with) - their own press release is total bullshit and I (and many others) love taking their FUD and ramming it back down their throats.
in your mind only ... ati's PR is certainly as 'good' as nvidia's.Originally posted by: Gstanfor

you just *confirm* what a total nvidiot you are . . . . and you are WAY below ATi's PR . . . posting FUD that is simply ridiculous . . . and ruining whatever credibility you may have had.
Your gernade was a dud and totally unrelated to this thread....
as usual.

I'll have to invest in a set of those rose colored sunglasses you are so fond of - they obviously have world changing powers...

I wouldn't say it was totally unrelated as it did discuss the intial press about the X1950 Pro. I think it was the way he was clutching to their CF/SLI claims and wanting to talk about nothing but ATI's PR team that made it unrelated.Your gernade was a dud and totally unrelated to this thread....

No, I didn't mean to be negative about your post ;-)
Any facts / info are good.
I just warned about Monarch sale / shipping practice that ppl have had in the past year - that are all over the net. The price is good, but by the time you get your order any street price would be the same or even lower ...
