X-Men, Pretty Good

The movie started out with action and from begining to end it didn't stop. The plot was your standard humans hate mutants, magneto hates humans, and X-Men have to stop both from destroying each other (kinda). The movie mainly focused on Wolverine and the actor (whoever he was) definately played the Wolverine the way he was meant to be. They didn't have half the X-Men or evil villians in the movie, probably to keep it from getting confusing. The special effects (especially with Rebbecca Romain Stamos's character) were great and the sound of wolverines claws coming out was pure magic. Toad was one of the coolest villians in movie history, with his agility and cool tongue tricks (yum 😛). Sabertooth didn't do as much as I had hoped, but that was OK. Some of the comic book facts were rearranged and rogue was a lot younger than she should have been, but all of it was in the interest of keeping it from getting confusing. I kinda liked Rogue younger. Wolverine, Rogue, and Jean Gray were the only characters that had any development and hopefully we'll see more of the other X-Men and the sure to be released sequel. My biggest grip: Magneto's evil plan was definately sub-standard. That aside, it was a great movie, worth seeing for comic book fans and non-fans as well. It was left wide open for a sequel and I don't doubt that there will be one in a year and a half or so.
 

Just saw it. Both theaters packed at 11:30AM, waiting line outside. This picture will be HUGE. Showing those closeups of faces in distressing clarity seems to be the norm now. I got tired of looking at ol pouty lips (I forget her name) from 1" away. Did the same thing to the heroine in Rocky and Bullwinkle. These super closeups seem to slow the flow of the movie.
Lot was borrowed from other films. That Sabertooth was awfully close to Chewbacca. The mutant ray was almost exactly same from Charlie Sheen SCI-FI flopper.
Man I can see a dozen sequels right down the pipe.
 
Cyclops is like the main character, and he leads the team under the Doc, so why wasn't he in it?

Surfer was to minor or a character to appear in the movies.

it was not bad, it was not really great. it was good i suppose.

damn morons messed up some of the stuffs though. and the sabotage stuff was just to simplistic, the mansion and war room had so much security, and in the movie, NOTHING.

and the movie will have sequels, well sequel was written into the movie if you are careful enough, a bit too obvious (just like phantom menace was).

and the plan was definitely substandard (that's what they get for removing asteriod M).

Jean Grey (spelled with an E, not an A, from the comics), was not developed at all. wolverine's character had no true development (the mystery is part of his character) though wolvie did have some revelations, but it was just plop. only Magneto and Rogue had any true to form development, you see why they are like that.

at least they kept the relationship between cyclops and wolvie correct (you're a "richard&quot😉.

at least magneto did not rip wolvie's adamantium out... 😛
 
I hope this movie is as good as it looks.

I am saying that if you follow the cartoon and comics, Cyclops is the team leader under the Professor (Doc) so why was he not in the movie.

And surfer was a minor character, so why should he be in it?

Cyclops was the team leader . . . he just didn't do a very good job of it. 😀

I for one, thought it kicked major butt . . . it's been years since I read the comics, and it was kind of like a flashback to my younger days of blowing all my dough on comic books. They seemed to get most everything correct to me . . . I noted cameos by Iceman, Kitty Pryde ("Shadowcat&quot😉, Pyro (though I thought he was a bad guy???), and Jubilee.

Definitely better than the piece of crap that was M:I2.

Best line of the movie, excepting a silent gesture by Wolvie to Cyclops,

Wolverine (fingering his new leather uniform): "We supposed to go out in public with these things?"

Cyclops (perfect smirk, too): "You would prefer yellow spandex?"

I haven't seen the movie yet.. but I don't believe that is the Silver surfer you're seeing (I don't believe he was ever part of the X-Men). I believe that is suppose to me Iceman, who was one of the original X-Men.
 
LOL thats funny considering your handle Raging. I haven't seen it but my friend said Cyclops was not in the movie. I then made the statement that he should be in it becuase he was in charge. I then also made the statement that Silver Surfer has no place in the movie becuase he was not a main character of the series - I never said he was in the movie.

Man you guys like to twist peoples words.
 
Hell, with Anna Paquin playing Rogue, im not complaining about her being a child, Anna Paquin is fiiiiinnnnneee.

wolverine is supposed to be 5'3 in the comic books but hes pretty tall in this.

WHERE WAS GAMBIT?!

gambit kicks asss, he should have been in it and played by Val Kilmer.

I couldn't help but laugh at their futile attempt to use funny looking character.

 
I though it was prett ydamn good ,considering the subject material and budget. Of course there are goign to be loads of people that will feel the need to hate it, but all in all, it was a pretty damn good translation of a comic book. The changes they made for the movie overall seemed to make a sense, It'd be hard to condense almost 40 years of storyline, without changing a few things, and though rogue was young, anna Paquin is a great little actress and oh so fine.
 
well just got back for the movies
it was sold out and packed! Luckily we had gotten our tickets early.
I have to say the movie wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but it was still very good.
A summer must see! 😀

oh yea, trinitron, either your friend doesnt know anything abotu X-Men, or he is stupid. cyclops was even in the previews, so i dont know how he said that he wasnt in the movie

i think the movie was pretty good, wolvie could have been a little better, but when i comparethe movie to hte previews, i was wrong about judging him. that RARELY happens, wolvie was a lot more vicious than what i thought, but he still showed too many emotions, and not enough temper, also, they should have given that guy some creatine or something.

last thing, FORGET ROGUE OR JEAN, DID YOU SEE STORM?!?!?! OMG HALLIE!
 
That was Darth Maul, where the hell did that limb bizkit comment come from.

And why does trintron think cyclops wasn't in it. Of course he was. Otherwise all of wolverines jokes would have sucked ("your a dick" was great as was the finger gesture.
 
Toad was played by Darth Maul, whose name is Ray Park.

He even does a little ode to this "Darth Maul" character when he's kicking the crud out of everyone in the Statue of Liberty... he wields a long thin... pipe or pole or something like it was the light saber he used in Episode 1.

Okay I didn't like the Rogue and Wolverine thing going on... in the cartoon I kinda remember something going on between Rogue and Gambit (who sadly was missing... drat) Also, wasn't Storm claustraphobic in the cartoon series? Cuz Toad locked her inside something... I thought she was gonna start freaking out... oh well.
 
It was actually an elevator shaft... but that's beside the point. I went to the 12:35AM show of the movie, and I just got home. The theatre was PACKED, and it was definitely a kickass movie. There were well placed lines that just cracked up the entire room; the leas of which was,

Wolverine: It's me.
Cyclops: Prove it.
Wolverine: Okay. You're a dick.
Cyclops: Good enough. Let's go.

Man I died when I heard that 🙂
