Series question: Am I the only one who really enjoyed X-Com 3 Apocalypse (except for the visual style)?
You know.... There are actually many folks like you. Why is everything that's "new" fail for you people? You been bitching about Fallout 3 and now you bitch about this... Ok fine, maybe in you "old school" days these games left an impression the way they were, and you don't wanna see them "butchered" in 1st person mode... Well... Newsflash! NO ONE CARES. There is a huge new generation of PC Gamers that didn't play X-Com in it's original state.. Hell, they NEVER HEARD of it! For these people, this will be the 1st chance to get to know X-Com, and I'm sure they will love it if it turns out to be as good as Fallout 3 which was incredibly good! I consider myself "old school" too. I am probably older than you actually... But...
I personally never played Fallout 1 and 2. (OMG! Herecy!) Back when these games were introduced, I off course knew about them, but my PC couldn't handle them, and I didn't really care, because back then I had a life, and better things to do then to play video games. Finally when things went downhill and I found myself sitting home and doing nothign but play games, I tried Fallout Tactics, and despite many people bitching about how it is horrible compared to Fallout 1 and 2, I loved it, because it was NOT turn based (a good thing) and the graphics were much better. When Fallout 3 came out, I loved it so much, I beat it and all it's expansions 3 times over... So when talking about such things, consider that your kind is not the only one that exists. ; ) Luckily we both have things available to us that we can play.
I thought I was about to get a remake of one of the best games ever made
But, this looks fun as well![]()
I don't mind if it is in 1st person mode, as long as your able to tactically move your squad around, and switch between members at any time (and the squad AI isn't retarded).
I think an RTS would be an easier transition, since X-Com is already a turn based strategy. All they would need to do would be to run the same thing in real time. The problem with that is controlling all those squad members in real time would be extremely difficult.

I'm not one of those guys that hates change..but thats what made X-com so special. You can't tell me how many old games have been remade and not F'ed up.
Fallout 3 was awesome btw..
Fallout 3 was awesome, but it wasnt "Fallout 3". It was "FPS set in 50's era post nuclear war".
The Fallout series was never a FPS based game.
I probably would not have been as big a Fallout 3 fan if it didn't include VATS. VATS turned it into almost a first/third person version of a turn based RPG. I thought it was an excellent extension of the series.
XCOM is completely different.
lolIs this like how farcry 2 ended up as a buggy GTA: Africa? Just re-using a name?
I enjoyed X-com 3. I had to play in "real time". If I had to play that game turn-based I'd shoot myself. It was excruciating trying to hunt down the last alien on the landscape at times.
