not much of a gps demo. I mean, gps on some phones lets you see local eateries, venues and crap like that, probably going to be a 3rd party app for that methinks maybe.

I had mine for 11 months and the battery was pretty much as good as new after a years worth of heavy usage.

At the bottom of the 3g iphone page it shows; "Requires new 2-year AT&T rate plan, sold separately."

So it looks to be $199/$299+ tax OTD and you sign up just as before

Awesome news!

That's good to hear. The battery on my current phone goes from full charge to empty during a 5 minute phone conversation. The only reason I haven't replaced it is because my contract with verizon runs out in july.

I plan on switching to ATT, and it looks like this might be a good option.

One other question:

I work in a classified area, and we aren't allowed phones with cameras even in our unclassified office. If I buy an iphone, and also a beater of a phone with no camera, will I be able to swap the SIM card back and forth between them?

Yep, you can swap them. I'm using my iPhone sim in a crap phone right now 🙂

Question for my mother...can you change the default font size? Her eyes aren't great (but the Chinese language support with character recognition will be a HUGE plus), so those tiny letters might not work for her.

Dont think so.

i think apple brings a lot of great thigns to the table, but while they are now finally 'showing off' load times with 3G like it is brand spanking new and revolutionary, ive had superfast 3G speeds on my phone since before the 1st iPhone came out.

Have you heard that from rumor sites?

I sure hope not - I'm pretty sensitive about my monthly bills and if it went any higher, I think I might not bother.

Anyone feel a bit underwhelmed when you look back at it. The most exciting features are software, and thats coming to every phone.

gps is nice, but really, how often would you use that and 3g is great but if you're always around wifi then whats the point.

everything else is a software update that all the phones get...

am i missing something? Im speaking as someone who already owns one.

I think everyones reaction is gonna be based on how satisfied they were with the previous phone. I ran into many times when I needed to browse the web while out and about and edge just annoyed me to no end.

Same here - only thing I was looking forward to besides GPS and 3G was maybe it would get thinner.

I don't think Apple is trying to drive people to upgrade from first gen iPhones. There was a poll they stated that 52% (or something) of people would have bought an iPhone if it was cheaper. These are the people Apple are trying to get as customers, and I think they achieved it with the 199 price point.

The one thing I haven't heard mentioned that I was really hoping for was Flash support.

That's nearly a must have for the intrawebs these days but I guess I'll make due without it.

I really wanted Flash support so I could watch Hulu.com from the 3G though 😉

What's the additional cost a 3G data plan? I can't seem to find a solid answer.

Engadget reported $30/mo ($10 more than now), but its not confirmed from AT&T

Can you use the 3G iPhone as an external modem? Can you do that now with the 2G iPhone?

Not OOTB, but possibly jailbroken. Never tried.

Given that WWDC was basically ALL iphone, should we lock this thread up and keep it all in the iPhone thread?
