Reverse racism? I thought racism was multidirectional, not just whites hating black people.

As a substitute teacher, this terrifies me. I figure that, if necessary, I could take 5, maybe six middle school students - but if they all decided to rush me at once, it'd be curtains.

I would have seriously laid some pipe.
There's no such thing as "reverse racism". You think that term was invented for blacks only?Originally posted by: Tiamat

According to a police report, one of the boys kept jumping in front of the woman, Sarah Kreager, 26, and claiming that the open seats on the bus were reserved.
But the mother of one of the suspects says the victim, for an unknown reason, provoked the attack by spitting in the face of one of the girls. Beverly Bell, whose son is an eighth-grader at Robert Poole, said the victim's boyfriend then pulled out a knife and threatened the girls, which prompted the boys to attack the man.
Another parent said it was Kreager who did not want any students sitting next to her initially, prompting an argument.
Still no mention of bigotry being the motivation behind the attack. I find it disturbing that so many that already posted jumped to that conclusion with no evidence to suggest that other than knowing the color of their skin.
TY for the updated article mundane, definitely new & relevant information.

This is another instance where a concealed carry permit would be handy. Crank off a few shots into the roof. They'll get the message.
That said, in the heat of the moment, if I feared for my life I'd have no problem shooting to kill.

I assume all 15 didn't decide to attack at the exact same instant. If only, say 2 were attacking me, I think it'd send the message to the others. Assuming I get back into the shape I was several months ago, I could easily take 2 middle schoolers so as to access my weapon.
However, if any more joined in...

It's sad that I knew this after the first paragraph.

This isn't the movies. You don't discharge your weapon into the air as a warning. And if you do, you can be damn sure there's going to be criminal charges coming against you, along with repair costs on the bus.
You fire a weapon, especially in public, it's to kill. It's that simple.
Getting back to this specific scenario, if the boyfriend was being attacked and tried to go for his weapon, he would've been in deep shit. You are at a serious disadvantage if you're trying to draw so close to the assailants and there's a huge chance that weapon is getting taken from you.
Let's say he does get the weapon out of his holster. What then? If you don't immediately shoot, there's a good chance that you're getting the gun taken from you. If you do shoot, there's a good chance that if your aim isn't spot on, since you're in such a public place you may hit a bystander.
This is a tough situation any way you slice it. CCW does not necessarily make it a more manageable situation.
