2 guys couldn't lift it? Jeebus! What the hell kind of 100 pound weaklings are they hiring there?!

Glad you got the problem resolved. Weird that the periscope type wouldn't work - that's exactly the type of application that they're made for.

No shit. Since I have my washer/dryer on the third floor, I had my stacked washer/dryer put on a plastic drain pan on top of a rubber mat to reduce the vibration. I can slide it out and in easily by myself.

The units weigh 300 pounds combined and are attached via the stacking kit (which is conveniently located at the rear of the units), so I can't take the 100 pound dryer off, then move the 200 pound washer. Like I said, it took three guys to get it in there the first time.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, that 2nd picture explains a LOT. OP, as an engineer, you must appreciate the idiocy of whoever designed that tiny space for a washer/dryer combo. That's insane to have such a tight space to work in.

Again, not my problem. I told them the measurements prior to buying the unit, they are responsible for everything else. This is what they get paid to do. There are hundreds of condos here with the same setup that have had washers and dryers in them for 50+ years now, yet I doubt anyone ever had the kind of problems that I had.

Glad to see you FINALLY got this resolved. (but probably not as glad as you are!)

The new install looks MUCH cleaner than the first...should have taken care of the "burning smell" as well.

HUGE attaboy for Evadman for his part in helping get this straightened out.

Actually, the dryer slides into the brackets at the rear, and sets down over the brackets at the front, then is screwed in place under those plastic plugs on the bottom front of the dryer. In any case, the only way to be sure the duct doesn't fold on itself (which is what happened in the first place) is to go over the top like they did to see what's going on. Other stack units (that come as a stack) have an access door under the dryer which allows access to the hoses and ducting while installing.

At least it's all resolved now. Happy laundering!

LMAO at the ninja guy!

Glad it got all worked out. Did Sears compensate you for your troubles?
Yeah, I don't remember if I mentioned any of that. The salesman gave us a $50 gift card when we went to the store at the two week point. We got another $25 and $50 via mail about two weeks ago, which apparently were the result of my wife being on the phone with various people.

I'll also note that the guys that came today said we should get a call from Sears for feedback regarding delivery. We got a call for the first team (that delivered the stuff to our living room, then left), but not the other two that we had problems with. I'd also like to thank Evadman again because he apparently let these guys know what we had been through, so they went the extra mile to make sure it got resolved. I thought about not posting the Ninja picture because that's probably an OSHA violation or something, so please don't take it out on them. 😛

Cool. What did Evadman get out of it?

Actually what I get out of reading it is that the OP is a moron and blamed Sears for his stupidity.

Definite props to Evadman for helping out a fellow member. Glad you got it taken care of OP and I hope Sears either figures out their service sucks or goes down like Circuit City.
