My purpose was to tell you that IMHO you likely caused the damage to the duct yourself, so that you might acknowledge that and get over your crusade against the installer and Sears. A crusade that is most likely fruitless and cause you untold hours of frustration and anger over a repair that you yourself could do in 10 minutes for $10. I would suspect Dr. Pizza's intent was the same. But instead you act like a child, and I simply gave you back what you doled out. From the condescending attitude you've displayed in this thread in regards to those posting in it and the "knuckle draggers" and "mouth breathers" you hired to install it, it's no wonder none of them want to go out of their way to help you. They probably want to get away from you as fast as they can and let someone else put up with you.
You came in here and made an assumption - that I had moved the units. Then you concocted a story around that assumption. You'll have to excuse me if I'm condescending to an asshole who would come in here and tell me that I'm lying in an attempt to defraud a company based on absolutely nothing. If you don't want me to be condescending towards you, quit being an asshole. It's that simple. Just like if the Sears people didn't want me to go on a crusade, they should have done their job right the first time instead of dicking around. If I'm in the right, I'm not going to bend over just because their customer service is so bad that it's painful. I'm going to make them fix the situation like I paid them to do in the first place.

I didn't concoct anything. I read your posts, saw that you said you intended to move the dryer, and saw the picture. I made the ASSUMPTION that YOU moved the units because you told us all that you INTENDED TO MOVE THE UNIT. I told you straight up I thought you MAY HAVE moved it and caused the damage yourself. That is because I DO NOT believe that your dryer doesn't fit in the closet as you claim. I never said you were defrauding anyone. I simply suggested that you MAY have caused the damage yourself when moving the dryer because you had said you were going to move the unit, yet seemed to be oblivious to or ignoring the possibility you may have caused the damage.

You assumed that I moved the unit, even after I said I didn't. Everything else - like fraud - is implied by the repetition of this assertion. I ignored the possibility that I caused the damage because I didn't move the units and, therefore, couldn't have caused the damage. Therefore, I couldn't care less what you believe because you're just another asshole breathing down my neck, which is about the last thing I need.

And your sister is a whore. Look, two can play at this game. I make a baseless assertion and tell you what it is, then stand by it even when you tell me you don't even have a sister.

classy. I bet if your wife wasn't so busy servicing the installers they wouldn't have forgotten to plug in the dryer.

fun isn't it?

Dude, you really should just fix it yourself.

I don't know what you make at your job, but surely it would have been cheaper to spend an hour or two yourself buying a part, moving the dryer, installing the new duct (it's a duct, not a hose), and pushing the dryer back as opposed to sitting on your ass not making money for 4 hours one morning.

You could diagnose this problem yourself quite easily. Pull the dryer out, disconnect the duct, and turn the dryer on. If you feel air coming out the back of the dryer, you know it's the duct that is the problem. You can then look to see how obstructed it is, reconnect it and maybe try to straighten it out and not crush it. It's really a 15 minute job. You'll spend more time on hold with Sears.

I'm sure that MikeyIs4Dcats and CycloWizard are finished playing ¿Quien Es Mas Macho? and they won't be addressing each other any more in this thread. If either does, that one will be taking some time off to think about just letting things go.

Looking at the pic I believe it is safe to say that without question the ducting is the problem.

FYI, brentwood is a bitch to shop around in

From reading the OP's "cliffs," how does owning a truck help w/ appliance installation mozirry?

Dump said appliances in Sears' parking lot at midnight FTW?

:Q

 :Q

Doing the actual installation is easy... though if the dryer is gas, there's a slight possibility of burning down his house if he does it wrong.

If you had listened to us, you would have had a properly installed appliance nearly a month ago. Just saying. ;)

only on ATOT could a simple problem with a large appliance installation erupt into such titanic bouts of unbridled nerd rage.

Update #8: Delivery guys showed up on Sunday (rather than Monday as scheduled). Thankfully, we came home from lunch right when they showed up. They were appalled when they pulled the old vent out and let me take a picture before tossing it. They tred different duct types on there for about half an hour, including the periscope variety (which didn't work). They went over the top of the dryer rather than moving it because it was too heavy for the two of them to move. They eventually put a couple of elbows together and about two inches of duct between them, rather than the 3-4 feet that the other guys had used.

be sure to include dramatic pics of the two delivery guys failing to move or lift the dryer together.

You know, the 3-4 ft of vent hose was never a problem. The problem was that it was crushed. Being too long is not what caused it to be crushed. Those elbows are going to take up as much room as the non-crushed aluminum hose, so if you couldn't fit the dryer in there without crushing the hose, you're not going to be able to fit it in there with the elbows.

The length of piping should always be minimized in any application to minimize potential problems (e.g. crushing, knotting, kinking), as well as minimizing pressure drop. Elbows and other joints are designed with these things in mind and, therefore, can take up less space than the ductwork.

Yeah, I don't remember if I mentioned any of that. The salesman gave us a $50 gift card when we went to the store at the two week point. We got another $25 and $50 via mail about two weeks ago, which apparently were the result of my wife being on the phone with various people.

I'll also note that the guys that came today said we should get a call from Sears for feedback regarding delivery. We got a call for the first team (that delivered the stuff to our living room, then left), but not the other two that we had problems with. I'd also like to thank Evadman again because he apparently let these guys know what we had been through, so they went the extra mile to make sure it got resolved. I thought about not posting the Ninja picture because that's probably an OSHA violation or something, so please don't take it out on them. :p

20+ days before you got this resolved. GG Sears, sounds like they learned how to deal with customers from AT&T
