So I started reading the first page and wondering what's up over at the HardForum and maybe I should try to see if anything's worse. I have an account over there and made some posts over the last couple of months in the video card and gaming forums. But I didn't notice anything getting worse. And then I checked the dates and REALIZED THE POSTS ARE FROM 2016.
Ok I feel like an idiot, it's my fault for not being more attentive. But any way back on track yeah I go there if I can't find posts on other gaming forum websites about a particular game subject or issue. And then wind up posting about something, usually about video cards.

I used to get along well with Kyle in the early days, though can’t recall my user name.
Yeah, I hate arguing logic with these people. Typical brain dead conservatives. That isn't to say there aren't those on the other side but I think the problem is mainly on the right.
They act as 50% of the US are SJWs and everything is a left wing conspiracy. They are obsessed with "owning liberals." What they call liberals don't even exist in great numbers.
I am non partisan, critical of every politician and think with my head. But if I say anything that questions their dear leader. Well, obviously I am a dirty liberal.
I've come to realize this recently. The one question you can ask someone to assess their intelligence is, "what are your political beliefs?"
Believe me. I've voted for both parties. I didn't vote in the last election because I thought both the presidential candidates were terrible.
I question Trump because he is the current president. I'm critical of anyone who is in power. Why is this thinking so hard for others to do? People treat this stuff like they are sports teams. It drives me mad.

Was a member for 8 years and then boom banned overnight without cause. I came to AT forums back in 2006 but mostly just lurked, happy to be here full time now
PS: I suspect the cause was my political views, I am an ex-R turned fervent Dem now. I like how AT has a section I can voice my views on without being muzzled, kudos.

Lol no worries. I think my first post here was back when I was a teenage college student and my car had been broken into/gotten a ticket coz of it the same day: got some good tough advice that day. Looking back 15 years later, it was so insignificant in the grand scheme of things....
Anyone remember that old article Anand posted where he got called Osama at a party...was pretty moving. Good old days when most of these sites had a pulse and now we get youtube teens just pushing corporate marketing BS so they can get some free HW.

20+ years on the forums, and till this day I still haven't seen one person say "Yeah, I earned that ban". It's always "they didn't like me", or "they didn't like my views".
It's kind of like Morgan Freeman said in 'The Shawshank Redemption', "You're going to fit right in. Everyone in here is innocent".

I dared to make a slightly negative comment about the Vegas-strip of blinking and flashing banner-ads on the main site which at that point were difficult to avoid ... I was summarily banned along with a bunch of other folks in the same thread without so much as a warning!

Lucky you ... he wasn't exactly known for his even-handedness.
I used to have the same problems reading reviews and stuff there too.
Weirdly although I like dark-mode and use it whenever possible, for some reason that place was awful... flashing banner-ads made it intolerable IMO.

The reason given for my ban was 'evga shill spammer'....because I advised several folks to get evga b stock cards since many panic sold their 2080 tis for cheap and then fell victim to Nvidia. Funny enough even a long time editor on the site thanked me for posting this and coming through for members and then boom banned...what is telling though is that I did get into a political argument with someone when Dump got covid and ended up getting a temp ban a few days before (surprise surprise even though shots were fired from both sides the other 'conservative' person was not banned) so yeah I don't think the evga thread did me in after 8 years and many many positive trades. And the alleged spam was a single thread with all positive feedback from members and said editor.
