But yeah, GWB sucks more and more by the day!

Actually, the supreme court considers privacy essential to the rights guaranteed by the constitution.

From a Slashdot comment:

The US: Formerly the "Land of the Free", now acquiring police state status, and on the fast track to fascism.

You mean the supreme court that Bush and republicans just put a new head on and has a new member on his was there any day now? THAT supreme court? I don't think so.

Heck Roe vs Wade was on privacy and seems like most abortion votes came down to 5-4 BEFORE Bushs new guy, let alone Alito, have their chance.

Hey..........I say whatever it takes!

Google is free to us anyway, right??

I have nothing to hide, so it ain't no biggie to me.

And FWIW, I don't care who's in office. D, R, Con, Lib, Left, Right..........I'd say, let Google give 'em whatever they want if it means we stop something really bad from happening!

My .02!

seriously. stop and think for just TWO SECONDS and I hope you'll take that back. People that just willingly hand over their rights make me sick.

So how about if the government monitors and records all of your phone calls? Would that be OK? It would probably help to know where vehicles were too, to help prevent car bombings, so how about you let the government put a GPS chip on your car just in case? You should probably just go ahead and have them install a government-monitored camera in your house too, just to be sure you're not up to anything. You won't mind right? You've got nothing to hide. The saying is 'give me liberty or give me death' not 'give me liberty or let me think about it' (title of a good recent article on slate.com).

Yeah! And if they want to search my car randomly, thats cool. No bombs in my car. Also, they should be able to enter my home randomly while I'm at work without warning, to check for terrorists and to make sure I don't have any weed or bombs or porno or anything.

Maybe they should just round up all muslim looking people like they did with the Japanese during WWII. That was brilliant...definately one of America's finest hours. Some of those japanese could have been spies...something bad could have happened. Afterall, freedoms and the constitution aren't important.

Yeah, if you had read Czar's post first and stopped yourself from posting, people wouldn't also be able to call you a moronic fvcktard for talking about terrorism and bombs in an article about the availability of pornography to minors!

Well your wrong, we got rights that aren't listed, it even says so right in the Constitution. And if the Supreme Court says we have a right to privacy, we have one, that's the way the law works.

and if you think about it, what would liberty, and freedom from unreasonable search, be without privacy ? Meaningless.

I look at 24 as being Propaganda. Compared to President Logan, Bush is a freaking genious. I think that the show is also written to make our terrorism situation look more sinister and dire than it really is. Our government can control us as long as we think that we need them for our security.

sheesh RTFA!

perhaps you should RTFA, it is NOT about child porn, but about how easily available regular old god fearin' porn is to minors.

So what do the search results prove? That you can go to images.google.com turn of safe search and get porn? I could prove that, wait I just proved that right now without logs from google. mmm boobies.

Well, duh. There wouldn't be much of a story there if all it was was Jack and Tony sitting around the CTU drinking beer and complaining about their wives/girlfriends/daughter while terrorists are huddled in a cave somewhere in Pakistan.

I'm sure they make some rediculous correlation about how often porn is sought out and displayed on computer screen, along with how many children there are in the US, to come up with some statistic that sates that 145% of children have witnessed an average of 28 hours of accidental porn viewing per day.

What would this lead to (I mean just from the porn aspect)? Filtering for search engines or at the isp level? How would they make sure porn was available to adults? Maybe have to enter a cc# to turn "safe search" off? Would they just tighten down the restrictions on porn sites? Without filtering it would seem pointless because what kid isn't smart enough to type www."insert naughty word here".whatever and follow links or use one of the many other obvious ways to find porn?

Maybe they should force OS makers to spend money on making nanny sofware available/ included in the future............ no need to invade privacy since we know that minors are accessing porn. Do we need flawed numbers as to the extent its happening?

I understand the need to seek out terrorists, but just because you visit a site that tells you how to make a bomb doesn't mean you are one, and there is nothing illegal about KNOWING how to make a bomb just MAKING one.

Lets see how this one plays out. *sigh*

This has nothing to do with terrorism, read the article its about children accessing adult content online and is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in the past 20 minutes from the Bush Administration.

^^ It's the people that don't know any better that scare the hell out of me. Throw a few buzz words their way (patriotism, terrorism etc.) and they willingly toss back at you their civil liberties. The masses are undereducated and are quickly losing their ability to form independent thoughts. What can you expect though with all of the funding cuts to education lately? What's going to end up happening is a widening of the social divide with a minority of haves and a majority of have nots (this applies to things other than money and material goods, think political and educational power gap) Now I'm fortunate enough so that I'll probably be on the side with the power, but it should sicken every one of you that this is happening. "The rich get richer while the poor get poorer"....
