It had Silvester Stalone when he was still hot, and Sandra Bullock or a lookalike... Or am I thinking of Demolition Man?

Good times back then when just having a star made the movie watchable.

I think it was Diane Lane

No top critics yet, will be more interested to see what they say, though it sounds like it may have a bit of Punisher War Zone in it and if so I am totally in as long as I can see it in 2D.

Was that any good? I never had any desire to see it as I actually liked Thomas Jane playing the Punisher but this makes me think it might be worth a watch...

As a Punisher movie, War Zone wasn't that great, but it's not bad as a crazy, gore-filled action movie. Oh and... emphasis on the gore-filled.

It was a lot of fun. No idea how it fits in the canon, but it's a crazy over the top fun movie.

Hmm my local theaters don't have many showtimes for this, which means it may not do well. :(. It has a pretty good score on Rotten Tomatoes at least.

Was going to see this tomorrow, but it's only showing in 3D, so going to have to skip it. Maybe I'll watch my shiny new Indiana Jones Blu-rays instead. :hmm:

I normally just go to the theater that's the closest to me, but they only have it in 3D and they aren't showing it in their 21-and-up section. I'm not sure why you wouldn't put a gory rated R movie in there, but I guess Jennifer Lawrence commands too much star power now. :p So, I might go to the other theater that's twice as far away because they have it in 2D (and the tickets are cheaper).

I know I'll catch some flak for saying this, but I've never seen the first three Indiana Jones movies. I've seen bits and pieces, but never the full thing. I did order the Blu-Rays, but Amazon decided that they didn't want to ship them out. If they didn't automatically adjust my shipping, I won't get them until Monday, which completely ruins my plan to watch them over the weekend. :|

That stinks about the theatre; I wish we had a 21 and up section, that would be awesome. That Lawrence horror movie looks pretty shitty to me.

You are in for a treat with those first three movies, well the first two anyway, I'm not a huge fan of Last Crusade. I kind of want to cancel my dinner plans tonight and just go home and fire up Raiders! ^_^

KT

Edit: by the way Dredd looks a lot like The Raid to me. :hmm:

Went to see Dredd tonight, and it wasn't too bad. I'm pretty picky about my humor in action movies, and like The Expendables 2, I thought it missed the mark a few times (not nearly as bad as Expendables 2 though). Before I went into the theater, I saw a poster for Taken 2, and that kind of put Taken on my mind. All I could think about was how I thought Taken was a better movie if what you were looking for was an ultimate bad ass.

I still think it's worth seeing though.

Went to the movie Saturday night. Was entertaining and moved quickly enough. They made a big deal about "mama" but she wasn't much of a challenge at the end. Typical movie scene with chain guns firing away and yet the main characters never get hit ...

If you are looking for an action movie, it is fine as long as you don't want elaborate fighting scenes.

I really liked this movie. I admit I was a fan back in the 80s of the book so that's probably why, this movie is those books on the screen. Tons of action, broken up with character development that isn't Dredd. Dredd is Dredd, what you see is what you get. Not that it's a bad thing, he just doesn't have that deep journey put into him for no reason than to have long meaningful actor masturbations.
If nothing else, it’s nothing like the 90s crapfest. It’s a solid story, and visually interesting movie. I’m a bit disappointed that this movie bombed at the box office. I would have loved to see more of them.

This movie is out in 3 days @home. It was actually very solid. The 1995 one was not, but this was well done and a good movie start to end to be honest.

Enjoyed it too. I'm glad I saw it in the theater.

Star Trek (2009)

Dredd 3D

...I'm starting to become a Karl Urban fan.

Didn't see it in the theaters because I was skeptical it would be good and didn't even bother to check the reviews. After a friend of mine with similar tastes in movies mentioned it was solid, I rented it this morning & watched it.

It's definitely worth seeing. The simple plot was well-executed, the pacing & atmosphere are very good, and the sound editing was far better than the average action movie.

enjoyed this movie. had a video game feel to it for sure.

this movie has like non-stop bass in the soundtrack, so if you have a heavy bass ht (like i do) you've been warned!

A good solid action movie. Rated R, so it wasn't toned down for children. Definitely worth a rental.

Saw it in the cinemas and really enjoyed it. Much better than the original.
