Giving it a try thanks

theres a lot of seeds and a lot of clients, but the speeds are horrendously slow. Right now I'm at 10 seeds, 37 peers and i'm only getting 20KBps down.

pretty ok for me. I am at 40-50KB/s

yep i just increased dramatically in the last couple of minutes.. i'm doing 50-80KB now, but these people are maxing my upload speed.... whats your IP? 😉

Just spiked up to 150-200KB now... GET IN HERE PEOPLE! 😀😀😀

Bleh, I got it when the OP link worked, too bad it was slow heh.

C'mon blizzard, it's the 8th in some places so open beta!!! 😀

Awesome, I've always liked reading these forums, and I'm delighted to see some people here posting about WOW.

I was just trying to follow what was said above and go to Wowtorrents to DL the open beta client, but when I do it is is asking me what to open this type of file with. Anyone else experience that?

Edit: Well, I saw I was probably just a dumbass and told it to use IE to run it, but it didn't start anything as far as a DL yet...

I downloaded and installed there bittorrent, but everytime i click on a link it gives me an htm file to download.

as of right now, 16 seeds and 83 peers. 🙂

I'm at 20 seeds and 77 peers, speed is right around 80 and going up over 100 a lot 🙂

I just hit a main seed, getting 250KB from him alone and maxing my Road Runner download speed at about 3Mbps. 🙂

Where will be a good place to know when it opens? I saw a post of the Blizzard Insider referring to https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com./ but when I try to open that it isn't opening the page fully and just looks like a secure sight for worldofwarcraft.com.

What is a main seed?

I assume the average Joe does not have 250KB/s of upload bandwidth, so I assume this is a server set up somewhere with a fat pipe. "main seed" is just a made-up term for that...

I was getting 280kb/s and then my client crashed, doh!! Hour and a half later and I'm only back up to 50kb/s.

I think that is safe to say most of us are. 😀

For the love of god, start open beta. 😛

Ahhh, I see. I'm over 20% done now, the speed keeps going up to just over 100 for a while, and then it suddenly drops to 0 for a few seconds before going back up.

I've never noticed that, but now it correlates with times when my browers will occationally come up with pages not displating. Anyone know of reasons why connections will cycle like that where it drops to no communications for a few seconds?

I'm on a cable connection directly to the modem.

That usually means you have a bad router / nic / etc that is dropping your network connection periodically.

My god...

Let open beta happen people so some of us can stop dreaming it happened and then can't get a damn nights sleep. 😛
