What is the final stress test?
The final stress test is an additional phase of testing that the developers have deemed necessary in order to prepare the game for open beta. Those who play in the final stress test will be helping to finalize the game code so that it is ready for deployment in the open beta phase.
Will I have full access to the World of Warcraft game?
The version of the game in the final stress test will be very similar to the closed beta version, and will include nearly all of the content that will be in the game for the open beta. However, because the game is still being optimized, there may be some lag and performance issues. Please bear with us and remember that although you will be playing a version that seems very polished and complete, it is in fact a stress test and will not always play optimally.
If I was in the first stress test beta, will I get to reuse my old account and characters?
Because we are testing a new version of the game and account creation process, we will need you to create a new account and new characters to play in the final stress test. Additionally, because the final stress test is a new version of the game, all accounts and characters from the first stress test beta would have been incompatible with the final stress test and were thus deleted.
Are you charging people to play the final stress test?
Blizzard is not charging a fee to play the final stress test or the open beta. However, to help defray the costs associated with distributing a large number of files and to keep our focus on finalizing World of Warcraft, we have partnered with FilePlanet for the distribution of the final stress test client, which is only available to FilePlanet subscribers. Subscription to FilePlanet carries with it a nominal fee.
Once the final stress test is over, will I be able to play in the open beta?

Blizzard Announces World of Warcraft Final Stress Test - Helcon on 11/01/04
In preparation for the upcoming free open beta test, Blizzard will be conducting a final stress test for World of Warcraft. Starting today, November 1, at 1:00 PM PST, players who would like to get a sneak peek of the game prior to the free open beta test will be able to visit FilePlanet, sign up for the final stress test, download the game client, and begin playing. In addition to helping us further test World of Warcraft's server infrastructure under heavy loads, final stress test participants will automatically have their free open beta test slots reserved, and their account and characters will transfer over to the free open beta test seamlessly! World of Warcraft closed beta test participants are already qualified to enter the final stress test. The final stress test client is NOW available for download by testers at WorldofWarcraft.com. Please note that your account and characters are still available and ready to continue where they left off! Also note that the client that you download will NOT be noticeably different from the last version of the beta that you played. In the days ahead, we will provide a patch that will update everyone's game client with the features, such as Paladin and Hunter talents and racial traits for all races, that you've been waiting for.

I suscribed but what the hell, it wont let me download, it says I have to sign in which I did but I can't see Wow???

Hey, I got charged twice and it still doesn't think my account is even a subscriber account.
Gonna be a huge @(#* pain sorting it out.
Just to be clear, there's no way to patch the previous version of the client, right? (I've been keeping my old stress test client updated with the latest patches.)
Is there any point in downloading this stress test version now, even if I wasn't in CB and can't get in the stress test? Will they release another new full client download for OB?

I had the same problem. It just took a while for the subscription to take effect. Keep trying to log in and it will eventually work.

I was already subscribed so all I had to do was signup. Well it said I would recieve an e-mail with my key and that was about 2 hours ago.:wine: They said they would be sending them out in groups because of the "high demand". Probably won't be able to actually start playing till midnight.
Did you get a key Mchammer? Its not giving me either in around 90 minutes. I only paid for Wow, I couldnt care less about Fileplanet or Gamespy.

Any version of the client released before Nov 1, 2004 is now useless for all tests.
Blizz may release a patch after the Stress test that will be required to play Open beta, or they may release a new client altogether. On the chance they may decide to patch the client released today for Open beta, I recommend downloading the client that was released today, even if you aren't planning to participate in the Stress test.
Have a client right in this thread even if it is the Blizzard one and slow but might as well dl it get it ready once fileplanet ever gets around sending you the key

Nope no way. I'm finally downloading the client from FP "high speed" line and only getting average 30-50 KBps.

Ahhh, it finally let me sign up, now it says I'm in a 'group' and will get a key when they do.
I tried Blizzard's gimped peer to peer system and it works great, maxes out my upload while allowing me a 5K\sec download, I'll wait on FP to send me a link I think
