Microsoft doesn't make cell phones.

Windows Mobile has sold one or two units. Maybe.

At the Original Post of putting these booths outside apple stores, I think it's pretty gutsy and funny.

I don't know - I'm no apple appologist, but I think the iphone is pretty cool. I don't blame the actual call quality on apple though, I blame AT&T for that since I was one of their customers for 2 (horrible) years before switching providers. It's honestly the biggest reason for not even considering getting an iphone for me, AT&T is a dealbreaker.

About the Ad campain.
The thing I liked about the Microsoft ads is they weren't directed at apple in the content of the ad. It was more about Microsoft, and not about microsoft being better than apple. While it was obviously directed at apple it wasn't a full out attack on apple. It was more of response (much overdue).

If the microsoft ad campaign had started first it'd probably really suck and we'd all hate it. But after years of hearing only apple on TV and hearing from the people buying into it, it's nice to have a change.

Finally : The comment about "why is the life without walls slogan pasted all over the booths walls" made me laugh.

But the thing is, market share doesn't tell the whole story. Apple gets their customers to pay more for the same hardware.

Nah, that's been debunked with numerous comparisons. They just don't sell low-end hardware.

Those articles are 100% bullshit for a very simple reason - NO ONE pays retail price for PCs. Seriously, when was the last time you knew someone who bought a PC at full retail price? They are always sold on special. Always. That isn't the case with Macs, they never have the huge specials that companies like Dell and HP run. Comparing retail prices is unfair.

Then why did you try make the argument in the first place?

Uh, I didn't try to make that argument in the first place, the other guy did

Couldn't agree more. My wife and I both have iPhones. They're great in every way, except as a cell phone lol. I drop calls nearly daily. But I guess it depends on the area you live in, too.

It is some of the best ownage i've seen in a while....

Actually its the other way round. I liked Apples rebuttal commercial.

I thought it was a funny commercial as well, but only because apple kind of made the wrong point IMO.

Why spend money on something that isn't broken in the first place?

It's clever marketing. The general consensus in people's minds is that Windows is buggy in general and Vista is even worse, despite SP1 cleaning up a ton of problems. I run Vista MCE on my HTPC and it runs just fine. I also have a Mac workstation, an XP laptop, and a BSD file server. Marketing isn't about the truth, it's about getting people to buy stuff. Cuz, you know, corn syrup isn't bad for you in moderation ;)

So you admit that the ads are intentionally misleading (in other words, bullshit)?

Most of those ads can not legally be aired in New Zealand because law forbids outright lies in advertising.

quoting yourself isn't healthy my friend.

Meh, nothing wrong with pointing out the OP's lack of any response to my question...

 I don't work for Apple, why would I represent them? Why would I "admit" anything about their ads? I have as many Windows computers as I do Macs...

Idiot. Hypocrite.

Wow :Q Are you okay man?

Right, you're a Mac user. I'll true to use smaller words around you in the future. Consider this, Einstein - you are drooling and stroking yourself over this enormous Mac campaign on one hand, and mocking MS for spending money on advertising on the other. You're a hypocrite.

Nobody asked you to represent Apple, besides, you're probably no where even near qualified to even think about doing so.

He was obviously asking for your opinion, and you keep dodging, just like you just did again.

Ok, then...

Simple yes/no question:

Do you agree that the premise on which the latest anti-Vista commercials are based is complete BS and FUD?

I also use Windows...and BSD...and Linux...am I a Bill Gates fanboy too? Is Linus my buddy?

You have the weirdest overreaction to a funny little ad I've ever seen  Do you feel better about yourself calling people names anonymously on a computer forum? You're more than welcome not to post in this thread if you don't like it...

Of course they're BS. I'm not defending the Mac or Windows platforms, I just thought it was funny that Microsoft put "I'm a PC" kiosks right in front of the Apple store. Vista had a rough start, but it works fine now. I'm very happy with my Vista Media Center. Like I said earlier, advertising isn't about the truth, it's about getting people to buy stuff. Buying Crest toothpaste to make your teeth white isn't going to land you a hot girl, but it doesn't stop them from advertising. I don't know how we got on this topic anyway, I never said Vista was bad...
