I think it's hilarious how people whine about how annoying the Apple commercials are, but when Microsoft does the same thing they love it.

I don't know what it is about Apple that pisses people off so much. Doesn't seem to matter though, apparently their marketing works amazingly well.

I've always found it funny how offended people get by Apple's advertising. Either you have a normal reaction and find it cute in a "haha" way or you fly off the deep end and have to post your angry feelings on a forum. Anti-Apple people are worse than Apple fanboys 😀

Hmmm...I would have to check the market-share numbers and get back to you on that.

Microsoft made Apple look like morans, and all Apple could do was make a commercial about a stack of cash in retaliation.

It is some of the best ownage i've seen in a while....

Also, I think it's spelled "morons", not "morans" 😉

You are quite the smart one! 😉

Unfortunately no, my Mac just highlights misspelled words 😉

Doesn't apply. You might as well discuss fabric softeners since that would be just as relevant.

In what market? Both companies have branched out into consumer electronics, and Apple is doing pretty well at it.

The commercials in question relate specifically to the Mac V PC ads that Apple has been has been endlessly running.

What does marketshare have to do with being successful? Apple is sitting on $24.5 billion in cash at the bank. Just because they only have a small 10% marketshare or so doesn't mean their marketing doesn't work amazingly well!

So this is what an apple fanboy looks like the wild.

Like I said. I've never used a mac. I don't own an ipod or iphone. In fact I don't have anything that is made by Apple.
But I'd still say that the Apple ads are funnier. They're really getting on M$'s nerves and its showing.

Obviously the 'I'm a PC' ad campaign is not about the iPod or the iPhone. Don't be stupid.

If I have 10% marketshare, and launch a major anti-PC ad campaign, and at the end still have a 10% marketshare, that was a failure. Unless the "Success" was not losing any marketshare.

Nah I'm kind of on the geeky side, I mostly hang out in the Apple section of AT 😀

How did they do that? All I saw was a bunch of people saying "I'm a PC" and a bunch of weird Gates/Seinfeld ads...

Also, I think it's spelled "morons", not "morans" 😉

Hm... I just googled moran, and apparently it's the now preferred way of calling people morons on the Internet. All started with a moron who held up a sign in Missouri, that said, "Get a brain, Morans!"

You just did a weird thing - you said "unless the success was not losing any marketshare" without actually looking up any numbers. You just made up the idea that Apple didn't gain any marketshare since they launched their marketing campaign in an effort to poke at Apple. That's kind of strange...😕

That's how it was when I was on usenet back in the early/mid-90s, but you'd think people would have stopped caring about Apple when it became clear that they were never going to dominate the PC OS market.

i'm not defending anyone. where did i say i was using microsoft products? that's right, i didn't.

i'm pointing out the mind-blowing hypocrisy of apple's "vista advertising" ad, and the complacency of apple lovers with the classic apple goodthink. never mind the ad itself is factually very incorrect, but you probably don't want to go there.

like i said before "M$" = moron factor 10

I said their marketing works amazingly well, I wasn't talking about the Mac vs PC ads specifically. But fine, here you go:
http://www.computerworld.com/a...asic&articleId=9054798

A one year growth rate of 28% is pretty good.

But the thing is, market share doesn't tell the whole story. Apple gets their customers to pay more for the same hardware.
