And for your post a couple posts down, being a plumber isn't JUST physical, it's intellectual in that you have to know what you're doing. I dunno, you're right about intellectual work costing more but at the same time, it's not like this is something they had to go to school for 2 years to do.
LOL...people like you are really funny...
the kind that don't appreciate the value of their knowledge and are quite oblivious to the fact that people will pay a lot for their services....
I dunno, I don't feel like I know a lot about computers other than the basics, so I guess that's why I can't appreciate it. I haven't learned something mindnumbingly new about computers for several years now, and I've learned everything from hands-on experience. I know people who can't even plug in the VGA or DVI cable to the motherboard because they don't know which one it goes in, but doesn't i make sense that it only goes in the one that it fits in? That's how I learned.

Edit: But at the same time, I'm trying to help out the people who don't have the knowledge for a lesser price, so it's not like I'm belittling them or anything, if that's what you were getting at.

You plug a DVI cable into the motherboard. Either you have the sweetest onboard video I've ever heard of, or you didn't learn very well.

Also, it's not like they get 20 jobs a day... they might get like 1-6 jobs a day which wouldn't be that much total money.

Okay, $29 to put a stick of memory in, $59 to run a virus scan one time, $89 to make you a 4GB DVD, $118 for an extra-special virus scanconfused
, $159 to set up a wireless network in your home, and $229 to copy one hard drive's data to another.
Biggest fvcking ripoff ever.

Gee, for someone with such a self-proclaimed command of PC repair, your lack of business fundamentals is quite surprising, especially considering both require a strong foundation in what's known as "common sense".
Personally, when I happen to do some consulting on the side, those prices are a bargain compared to mine. Of course, I make on-site visits, almost exclusively to businesses.

Ahhh... well good for them. I still agree that it isn't too expensive. Things are priced at what people are willing to pay for them.
For people that think the pricing is unreasonable, are you saying if you have a car that is worth $2000, but someone is willing to pay $5000, you would price it lower than $5000?

That's like saying a plumber is a ripoff at $60/hr when all you need is a pipe wrench. If you don't know how to do it or don't have the time to do it (whatever "it" is) you pay someone to do "it" for you.
It's a service, not a ripoff.
