Well, I am already reading reports of bots running in WOW. Ebay has about 200 auctions for gold so I guess the bots are being used to level and find gold. No item's for sale on ebay yet... Regardless of the pay to play it looks like WOW is going to be another bot filled mess just like Diablo II. Very sad. The difference though is that this time Blizzard can probably be sued since people are paying... Another month will tell the full story.

 EverQuest has had macroers for over five years. It only started sucking when Sony decided to start making changes in an attempt to increase profits, which didn't happen until about three years ago. The Luclin expansion is the first one they had a major hand in (though they owned the game since they bought it in beta), and that expansion is, not coincidentally, the first one that people en masse really didn't like... and every expansion since has gotten progressively worse. Further, WoW has been live for four - 4 - days. Sony regularly goes months before fixing glaring bugs, if they bother at all. Give Blizzard a chance. Even if the game ends up mediocre, it's far better than Sony's offerings, and I'll gladly play it. That being said, I know better than to play a mmog in its first month ;)

On the monthly fee everyone is making a big to-do about, keep in mind it's not for everyone. People who don't have the time or inclination may do better avoiding MMOGs, but for those of us who enjoy them, it can be a great investment. $13-$16 a month, depending on mmog, for more & better entertainment than TV at its $40-$100+ per month pricetag. Players also make up a big part of the online experience; if it weren't true, nobody would pay the fee - everyone would play offline RPGs. What can make it worth it is when, unlike your typical counterstrike kiddies, the people you play with can type properly (ie. no "y ur 2 wut iz plz ne1 thx"), are older than 10, and are worthy of forming lasting connections & even friendships with. I've never met one of my closest friends in person. Of course, Sony ruined EverQuest - but the potential is there. Time will tell whether WoW will realize it, but if anyone can recreate the magic, it's Blizzard.

I've been playing since it was released and after the lag problems on Tuesday and Wednesday, it's been very smooth for me at all times. I'm on the Doomhammer server, btw.

Even with the bad threads I've said about it, I like the game.

You will have to make friends though, especially after you get to lvls 7-9. You need friends for those quests.

This is my first MMORPG and so far I like it... a bit too much for my own taste. Time just passes so quicky that I "forgot" to do a couple of things I had intended to do...

Anyway, there's a bit of lag now and then, I've been in a queue twice (about 10 mins each time) but the overall experience is quite good. I need to find a couple of friends to play with my lvl 12 rogue so I can complete the quests more easily (it really sucks to die in that game, especially in a remote place crowded with monsters with notoby in sight for the next few minutes) and to get a better feeling of the "multiplayer" part of the game... I've had a couple of single serving friends that I helped complete some quests but nobody seems to care about me...

Anyway, the game is good, the interface is very intuitive but I have a small complain about the quests which aren't all that precise sometimes, especially when they tell you to get X number of rings but they don't tell you where to find the people wearing those damn rings... and the quest told about crusaders and there were no crusaders, only warriors and missionaries...

We'll see better next month how it all develops but so far I'm very confident, Blizzard has already added many more servers to better cope with the amount of people playing and I'm sure they're commited to make this game a great game!

At first when i logged on, I was getting ~50ms, like I should be; but quickly after, was getting ~180ms. Now, a couple days after, i'm getting ~100ms, which I still think is horrible. It's not just about the gameplay, but the amount of servers that SHOULD have been compensated for the amount of players online. To me, Blizzard has failed in solving this problem in a quick and quiet manner. The game should be seemless at least in this perspective, to me.

I played Open beta and the graphics are just fine. The sky might be a little smudgy, but oh well.

LOTS of bugs though. in just one day, the game froze 2x and closed due to bugs 3x. This is just insane! I also was not able to send my written report about the bug at any of these instances. Seems like Blizzard went on vacation a bit early.

I agree with Zukatah about the quests, interface (although I use CosmoUI), and the passing time ; . BTW, there was a sidequest in Tessadril called Mist quest, which was an escorting mission, and was unable to complete even though I had the escort and talked to the person assigned in the quest log.

Sounds good, I was kinda pissed off that we won't be getting it for another little while here in Europe, since they'll be working on German and French translations(hey, how about learning English fellas? parlez vous anglais eh???), but maybe it needs that little extra time to mature. :)

OMG, bots are selling on ebay already Macro bots for WOW!

I personally believe the ebay pays MMORPG companies kickbacks so they continue to allow the sale of the digital items on ebay. The profit is huge.

WOW is filling up with bots so fast it is insane! Game is going down the toilet faster than Diablo 2 did.

<SNIP>
interface (although I use CosmoUI)

Cosmos is a beta 3rd party product and introduces a lot of errors and crashes, particularly if you use the alpha branch.

It has a number of benefits, but you use it at your own risk, and forfeit the right to complain about game stability while doing so 8)

There are some 90 servers currently. The more popular ones will have queues at primetime, but as a new character it should be trivial for you to pick one which does not have any wait times at any point of the day, unless you want to join your friends on a high population server.

I was in beta for a while but didn't buy it since I don't really have enough time to commit to an mmo for now. It's a fun game though, my first choice for an mmo if I were to pick one up again.

dedd they run the game while you work and sleep and find gold and complete quests for you so you level and reap the rewards.

While it's probably possible to create a bot to farm gold from trivially easy creatures ( lineage 2 was full of these), creating one that can do quests for you is an entirely different matter, and I am more than happy to suggest that it's impossible.

If there is someone claiming to be selling such a macro on ebay, they are most likely a scammer.

That's a bunch of crap!!! I guess people always find ways to cheat, oh well. I wasn't going to play this game because of school, but I picked it up for $19.99 this weekend. I guess I'll just wait around for awhile before opening it up. Let the hype die down a little and see what goes on in a month.

The beta was pretty fun, I never grouped and enjoyed running and flipping away from things, lol I had so much fun just jumping around. Diving off very high buildings was the best.

I did enjoy the quests and the pets, I only used the hunter class. Overall it was a very enjoyable game, but getting cash was pretty hard. I guess I'll just wait though, I got finals and an A+ OS test to take in the next couple of weeks.

So they are basically program hacks. Isn't that illegal since the game is copyrighted. Or are they just programs that move your character around instead of the normal input devices?

Wrong, it is not impossible. The people that get involved with hacking these game types are very skilled programmers. The reason they bother usually isnt curiosity it is for MONEY. Selling dupes in Diablo alone has made multi millionares out of some of them. "They" said it was impossible for Diablo II and other games too, lol.

Here are some links for you just to show what is already happening / in the works as far as automating game play.

http://www.wowwiki.com/WoW_UI_Customization_Guide

http://search.ebay.com/world-o...ordredirectZ1QQfromZR8

http://www.blizzhackers.com/vi...1cc17097c2a9c54a4525f9

This last link is the reason why people put the effort into hacking these games:

http://search.ebay.com/World-o...ordredirectZ1QQfromZR8 (check out what has already sold and for how much by doing a search on sold "world of warcraft gold."

I can find many other sites where folks are scrambling to implement their own bots and make CASH off the game. Ever heard of d2jsp? Well, those same folks will be making a WOW bot and selling it.

Why because it is very possible including quests. I am amazed at how much effort goes into hacking these games but the money drives it. Still amazing.

Oh, yeah you got to check out this website! http://www.ige.com/

I'm don't know their specific policy, but generally accounts stick in mmos for a few months.

In FFXI, there some bots, but the trend has evolved into paying min wage for someone to actually play and get gil for the company in China. IGE is the perfect example. They employ people to play hours upon hours and still get a profit somehow. It's really quite sad as some items in ffxi are now being price jacked up. When 200,000 gil is worth 16 bux (and one item drop can be sold for ~500k), I'm sure they make a good amount of cash.

It just seems petty to me, maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but it's just a game. I guess people will do anything for a few bucks.

Yes, people will do anything for a few bucks not all people but depending on what it is someone will step up and do it. Look at survivor and fear factor. God fear factor has people eating bugs and worms mixed up in a blender and drinking larges glasses full of it. We are talking about maggots, cock roaches, worms, beatles and stuff! I have watch people eat horse rectum and other equally disgusting things on that show.

Just think about the sexually bizzare things people do on film! lol
