Would you rather have a desktop or a laptop?

I would probably go with a notebook + external monitor.

I don't really play the top of the line games so a fast notebook would be good enough for me.

I hate laptops, but I use them out of necessity. If I had to pick, I'd still pick a desktop (though depending on how mobile I am in the future, my answer may change).

tell me you're still using the compaq

If given a chose I would have to go with a desktop first for gaming. I have both a laptop and desktop, the laptop is great for surfing the web and homework at the library but for me I would die having to game on a laptop.

Both.

I like to use the notebook while I sit in my easy chair and watch Parry Mason. I take it with me when I travel...

Desktop but I have both, laptop is a X31 and it does everything that I ask of it. It's great when I'm in a remote location and need it for whatever reason. Desktop isn't the newest and greatest by any means but it's a dual core and handles everything I throw at it just fine.

Laptop. All I need is 250gb and a midrange GPU because I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore.

I voted laptop. Ideally I'd have:

Macbook Air
Server
Myth Box

The macbook would be for well, everything. The server would have some huge amount of storage and store up files for the network. The mythbox would be a slimline pc type deal sitting in the living room. Everything would run on wireless-N.

my macbook is all that I need, I have not played a game in years so I have no need for something uber powerfull. I only use a computer in my private time to surf the internet and e-mail so even my macbook is overkill.

I'd rather have a desktop, but....We're having a 2nd child, so I'm losing my home office. I'm going to be switching to a laptop.
