Would you rather have a desktop or a laptop?

? Models...um, whichever you want. Lets just say you have to choose between two equivalent ones.

I am open to either. It'd be cool to have a desktop replacment laptop (2gb ram, 500gb hard drive, 17 inch screen, etc) but they cost way to much. I will stick with a desktop for now.

Desktop. I want too much performance out of my computers, and a 20+ lbs laptop is not something I want to be lugging around all the time.

I have zero use for a laptop.

ZERO.

All you need these days is a desktop and a pimp cell phone.

Desktop.

Can't get enough storage space or fast enough video on the lappy.

...not that it's not nice to have a lappy around at times. I just couldn't use it as my main rig.

Exactly. I HARDLY ever use the computer at home (my wife even moved my 22" LCD to the basement because she thought it took up too much room on my desk and I hardly ever used it). It's also nice to be able to take my laptop outside and watch some YouTube videos while smoking a cigar and sipping on scotch.

laptop if you don't play games.

i have both. I probably use my laptop 90% of the time. Use the PC for more cpu intensive stuff like photoshop. I mean shit, even when you're at home, you can't bring your desktop to the couch. I usually have my laptop next to me while playing halo

I used to be desktop no question...but lately I don't use my PC for anything performance-intensive...in fact while it was top of the line at the time, my desktop is now 5 years old and waaaay behind the curve. Plus, I'm not in school anymore which means no more excessive typing on an annoying laptop keyboard, so I think I might prefer a laptop nowadays. Never thought I'd say that.

Laptop. It can complete all my tasks at the same speed of any desktop, all while using less power, taking up less space, making less noise, and being portable between my home and office.

I leave the gaming for my consoles and home theater.

desktop. i have three

everywhere i go every day (work, school) i've got computers all around me that i can use all the time. for the occasional computing needs outside of these places (bus, coffee shop, etc), i always have my smartphone with me which takes care perfectly of my light e-mail and browsing/forum needs.

no need for a laptop.

The system in my sig only gets fired up about 2-3 times per week and now that I'm approaching 30 and have two kids and two jobs, I might game 3-4 hours per month at the max with at least half of that being Xbox360.

I was just telling my wife I'd like to sell my main rig and replace it with a laptop that had a 17" screen and a 8700GT.

Mega-laptop

My boss's brother has one. It's a big piece of shit.

It's super expensive and only comes with a Mobility X1800.
One of our IT people has one. He seems to like it. I just want one with dual monitors. :p

I want a desktop for games, but I hardly ever play games.

I'd like a desktop to make content, though.

I've had both. When I had a job that required me to travel, having the laptop was nice for the hotel room, preparing and doing work on the plane, etc. etc. Now, my current job doesn't require me to have a laptop, and I am not missing it at all. If i need to jump online really quick to check email or check movies times, I can use my wireless PDA that boots up a lot faster.

I personally prefer spending my money on a desktop due to the fact, i can upgrade parts as necessary, and when stuff breaks, I can go to the local computer store, buy the parts and fix whatever broke in the same day.
