False. Most people in here who say yes wouldn't necessarily do it when the situation came down to it either.

I'd like to think that if a situation came up where I could give my life to save my wife's then I would. I'd let all of the cats and dogs in the world die before I'd even give up a finger.

Wife and kids? Absolutely. Pets? I love them, but no. Their lives simply don't have as much value as mine.

My family, without hesitation. As cold-hearted as this may sound it's going to have to be a judgment call on the spot for my pets...

Would I risk my life to save my cat? Yes. But if there was a gun to my head and the cat's head and the evil man said only one gets to live, I would pick me.

Sorry, Buddy.

It would be the other way around for a wife or children.

I would like to think that I would...but if it came down to it, I don't know.

I do have one friend though that I would do it for in a heartbeat (or in this instance, lack of one)

Yes for me. Wife, a dog and 2 cats.

What if I live alone with no animals?

Would you give your life to save your life? Sounds vaguely preacheresque, don't it?

It's like dividing by 0!!!!

Sacrifice your life to save your life!!! YOU COULD LIVE FOREVER!!!!

scenario:

one of my 4 cats is in the middle of the road. A car is heading straight for the cat ready to make it a road pancake. My mind calculates a less than 50% chance that I may be able to run, grab the cat and jump out of the way of the car.

Sorry, the cat is a goner.

I'd like to think that in the heat of the moment I would give my life for someone I truly cared about (there arent a whole lot of people who would fall under that category. My immediate family and SO are about the only ones who really qualify), but you never know until you are in the situation. Once you are in the situation, it doesn't matter what you want to do or what you always thought you would do. You are just going to act without thinking. That's how you learn what kind of person you truly are is from your instinctive actions.

No. I currently live by myself with only pets. I like my pets, but sorry I wouldn't give my life for theirs.

But would you eat the fish to save the cats/dog?
