Bottom line: It's more hygenic (only if you're lazy) and less sensitive (less pleasurable).

more hygenic to be circumcised? I think that's a big myth. Its as easy to clean either way.

But, being uncircumcised, I think I would prefer to be circumcised. Just because during sex, there's less skin between the rubbing surfaces so more friction can occur. I just think that would make for better sex.

I don't know about you, mate, but when I'm having a shag the foreskin slides right back, exposing my knob, the same as a lad who's been circumsized.

(This is seriously the last time I'll beat this dead horse)

There's a collar popping joke in there somewhere.

How exactly is circumcision more hygenic? If you don't clean an uncut penis, you get smegma. Smegma is about as unhygenic as ear wax. Gross perhaps, but not unhygenic.

I was cut, and I wish I wasn't, though I don't mope about it.

It's more hygenic by virtue of not having smegma.

Also, the foreskin constitutes somewhere around half of the skin on the entire penis (~10 sq. in. of surface area I believe). This skin is very sensitive and can be used for a pleasing purposes, but not when it's gone. Cut off vagina lips? No thanks.

Hygiene \Hy"gi*ene\, n. [F. hygi[`e]ne. See {Hygeia}.]
That department of sanitary science which treats of the

Smegma does not have ill effects on health, as far as I know.

Some people say 10 inches makes a man. But I wouldn't cut mine in half for anybody.

Probably, because a non looks ugly and it would upset him later when he's 17 and trying to get some action and his girlfriend withdraws in terror.

Oops, sorry, I misread your post AND I'm a dumbass. But it does require less cleaning and thus is more convenient.

Any girl that would "withdraw in terror" isn't worth my time.

Think of hair, teeth, ears, all kinds of body parts. Yes, they take work to clean, but you don't see (most) people getting rid of them. An uncut penis has a number of benefits which IMO trump the trivial act of cleaning it, and by far.

And a penis is MUCH easier to clean than any of those things. Hell, just the normal shower beat off will do it for many guys.

Circumcision also has many possibly bad or even horrific side effects. A quite common one is too much skin being taken off, and the hairy skin area stretching up onto the shaft to take up the slack -- resulting in a hairier shaft. And that's trivial compared to the possibility of disfigurement and whatnot.

male

uncircumsized and would circumsize my child
uncircumsized and would not circumsize my child

circumsized and would not
circumsized and would

female
would
would not

results

i am uncircumsized and would not

and IMO it is on its way out because pretty much anyone that is not will not even consider doing this to their child and
the people that are, are the only ones that will really consider to do it or not

For the love of God, let the poor kid masturbate without having to use hand lotion!

It's just unbelievable that people would continue to deform their children like this for no appreciable reason.

Yes circumcision was originally for hygiene 200 years ago when people didn't shower every day, people were more prone to VDs and whatnot without circumcision. But today our hygiene is so great, that it's pointless for circumcision.

yes, i am circumcised, and if i ever have children, they will be also. I hear it is easier for us to keep clean without the foreskin

but do ladies prefer default or cut?

When we were deciding on our son I was try to do some reasearch about it and found a video out there somewhere of the procedure being done on a baby. NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD LET THAT HAPPEN TO MY KID!!! The kid screamed his head off, suposedly doc's dont use anastesia (sp?) in many cases. Not a chance, all those who don't think its a big deal, I urge you to watch that video, I think you'd change your mind.
Unless there is a legitmate medical reason, I would not do it

Circumcision is rare where I live and is mostly only done for medical reasons. Many people consider it to be a child abuse and is only widely done in third world countries and america.

Would many of you pro-circumcision people also do the same thing to your daughter and if not why would you only mutilate your sons?

I ask that same question to many people who are staunch advocates of male circumcision (who incidentally are usually harsh critics of the practice of female circumcision), and they usually don't have an answer beyond "it's more hygienic", which doesn't matter because as long as you shower once a day and wash yourself you're fine.

Call me an ignorant SOB, but what's a female circumcision?

Link

Ok... That's not really even in the same league as a male circumcision. I'm circumcised and I have lots of feeling.

We had our son circumcised when he was born and will do it again if we have another boy. We didn't do it for religious reasons, more for hygenics and esthetics. And if he doesn't like it when he grows up, oh well. I'm not planning on suing my parents any time soon for having me circumcised. I'm rather glad they did it, actually.

Well, female circumcision reduces sensation (albeit in some cases it probably just about eliminates certain aspects of it) just as male circumcision supposedly does. Even if you still have feeling, don't you admit it's possible that you don't have as much feeling as an uncircumcised male? Like the article on fem. circ. said, it's also for aestheic appeal, just like some people say about male circ.

The male equivalent of that link would be cutting off the glans, something very different from circumcision. I think it's definitely a good idea for hygienic reasons.

In the article, it mentions that some female circumcision only involves removing the skin around the clitoris, the prepuce I believe. Wouldn't that be directly comparable to removing the foreskin?

Some. No male method involves cutting off the head though.
