Would you buy rifle A or rifle B

Your looking at 2 rifles to buy:

Rifle A cost around $1,200, has a solid reputation, great quality and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Rifle B cost around $500, has hit and miss quality, and comes with a 1 year warranty.

Would you rather buy the less expensive rifle, and have whatever might be wrong fixed in the first year.

Or would you rather buy the more expensive rifle that has good quality and a lifetime warranty?

I'm going with choice A. I personally wouldn't mess around – an extra $600 would be absolutely worth it for the extra quality and lifetime warranty.

From Long Experience, I have learned that "settling" for less than what I really want only (and inevitably!!) results in me spending the money again later on.

So, if it were me, I would buy the $1,200 rifle. Because to do otherwise would net me a $500 rifle now; *and* the $1,200 later on. Plus a set of accessories for each.... 😛

Most guns never lose their value, so getting an expensive one is kind of like a savings account.

Definitely "A".

The last thing you want is to have your rifle malfunction when you are hunting down that pesky burglar that stepped on your lawn. 😉

Jokes aside, I have always been prepared to pay more (within reason) for an item of better quality than to settle for something not as good.

If money is no object then go for the better product. If, like most of us, money is a concern, then you need both products in hand to properly evaluate it's bang-for-the-buck and make the best decision for you.

But if you are just going to have to pay more to fix rifle B later on, then you might as well go with rifle A now. A quality firearm is one of those rare items that can last several lifetimes, if properly maintained.

Why are you asking this question? I thought you knew so much about guns that you make blanket statements on Glocks?🙄

Why are you asking this question?

Because I want to.

There are a lot of people that justify buying cheap products. Why buy a $1,200 rifle when you can buy 2 $500 rifles and a bunch of replacement parts.

When I was faced with this same question, but in real life, I decided to buy the $1,200 rifle. Now I am thinking about buying the $500 rifle just to have it. But that question is for another thread.

Depends on the quality and reputation of the model.

If I could, I'd buy a SPAS-12 "just because" even though there are cheaper, more reliable, possibly sexier options.

Go ahead and buy it if it makes you happy. Maybe that is your best troll tactic yet.
"Yes, I bought a $500 rifle to make foghorn look wrong!"

And back on topic, is this a bolt action or something different like an AR setup?

Option C. I'd look for a rifle that had similar characteristics, but lower cost, and higher quality. To play along though, my decision would depend on particular details. What am I going to use it for? What's the country of origin? What stuff breaks, and how hard is it to fix? Generally I prefer paying for quality, sometimes that doesn't make sense.
