Worst Black Friday EVAR!

I'm pretty sure I've never gone out for a BF deal. The thought of muscling up to the front of a line, trying to squeeze through a door ahead of other people and racing down slick floors in an effort to be one of the first 25 to buy a marked down item does not appeal to me.

I hung out with family, ate TG leftovers and went for a hike.

You are picturing the stupid stores, Home Depot usually has some great deals on tools, Ace Hardware as well. I tend to stop at Pep Boys for car stuff. No lines, no pushing, the workers are friendly.

Ordered one thing from amazon (lightning deal) that I was hoping to find on sale this year for my youngest son, which amazingly was. Click click click. That's all the black Friday shopping that was done this year.

On the other hand we went out with friends that we are visiting for dinner and desert while kid free for the evening. Way better than any shopping that could possibly be done.

The bulk of our shopping has been done throughout the year. I watch sales and deals year round. It makes holiday shopping difficult, but to be honest we do the bulk of our gift shopping from a large furniture box in our bedroom closet.

Yeah... if you want the good Target doorbuster deals like the 50" 1080p LCD TV that they had for $229, you needed to be in line hours before the store opened.

It was an Element brand. I've seen those TV's before in action, and they are half decent.

If you're a savvy shopper, then BF has deals that cannot be replicated throughout the rest of the year. The mere fact that places like slickdeals and fatwallet have active and dedicated BF forums shows that the most knowledgable shoppers are very interested in this event.

There is no reason anyone should ever go shopping on Black Friday, it's a marketing scheme developed by corporations to sucker the masses in to spend there money and go deeper in debt.

Seriously, the cheap Element and Emerson sets aren't half bad. I know I guy who got two of the 24" models from Woot for about $89 each two years ago, and they both still work fine now.

Buying from Amazon is annoying. They let you claim lightning deals, complete your order, but you don't know if you get the deal until they actually charge you. There have been 2-3 deals today where I claim them immediately, do one click checkout, and then be charged full price for the item.

EDIT: Let me rephrase, buying lightning deals from Amazon is annoying.

No way. I know immediate whether I got it and as long as you check out within 15 min you get the deal.

I didn't buy much this BF frankly. I walk around stores and already seem to have whatever really matters.

Depends totally on what you are in the market for. Most of the top shelf brands that had sales didn't have the price drops that the cheap junk has but depending what you are looking for, the cheap stuff is good enough, especially if it's a gift.

Black Friday is geared for the stupid and ignorant and always will be. My neighbor bought a 55" at Walmart only to find it had 2 hdmi ports and now has it take it back.

It's really no more stupid or ignorant than you guys who flock to the Steam deals and buy sale games that you wouldn't otherwise buy. Same for BF shoppers, they get cheap enough prices that they buy products they may not be willing to pay full retail for.
Ignorant is your neighbor because he failed to spend a few seconds to look up the TV to see if it fit his needs. Stupid are the folks to buy Steam games and never play them just because they were on sale. But realistically BF is about saving money on gifts you buy others for Xmas, to have a decent Xmas for cheap is never ignorant nor stupid.

I had a Great black friday. I got some clothes, a few movies, a nintendo DSI 3d xl.

i wanted a small TV and a xbox but missed those. but otherwise it was good.

I got a 70 Vizio at wally for 900.00. Not sure how that isnt a good deal since it is normally 1700.00.

I ordered it on Wednesday,it's here Saturday.

If you have kids that you are shopping for, you'll likely get some great deals. We got nerf guns for more than 50% off at meijers, skylanders swap force starter kit for 40% off, buy two get one free on individual skylanders at Toys R Us....

$9.99 remote control helicopters at K-Mart, a whole crapload of stuff from target and Kohls...

We didn't even show up at right at opening. We went to some of them on our way home from Thanksgiving dinner. My kids and I stayed in the car and dropped my wife off at the door then picked her and the stuff up when she came out.

In fact, we were going by Best Buy at 10:00 PM and I saw they had a line and were handing out tickets and bracelets, so I had my wife get out with the flier and hop into line. The line was about 20 people long because it was the second doorbuster, and we got a nice cheap camera that we needed out of the deal and a couple of the dirt cheap android tablets for my boys to read books and play games on.

All in all we saved a ton of money, didn't stress, and had fun shopping. No lines, really.

Amazon had a bunch of movies with deep discounts. I got the entire Lord of the Rings extended Blurays for $24 and the entire Harry Potter collection for $50. IIRC, the Potter collection was originally $115.
