After several years of absence, our team braved WalMart and scored some loot without getting trampled or having to trample someone. Tired but happy. It was just a bit crowded but no hostilities like what we saw on TV.

To be on TV, there has to be blood.

I think the key to a successful Black Friday is bringing the right kind of ammo.

If I was dumb enough to go shopping on Black Friday, THEN it would be the worst Black Friday ever...

Walmart took their cell phone update software right out of the Obamacare playbook. Took 7 hours waiting in line to get two new iPhones.....they were updating and selling at a rate of 2 per hour (that was with 4 people working the counter). Software crashed within 5 minutes of opening.

They were nice enough to extend until Saturday, 12/09/2013 but only after we had been there for 5.5 hours. Wasn't leaving without the phones at that point.

Thanks, now I feel a little bit better about my day.

I passed on some GREAT TV deals over the last 2 days and then I get home and **POP**....my 36 inch, 4 year old Magnavox LCD pops dead for the 3rd time. I replaced two sets of capacitors in it the previous two times but there is no capacitor damage that I can see and nothing burnt (not blown fuses either). Now I've missed the deals! **CRIES**

Can only hope a great deal comes along over the next 3 to 4 days....sigh.

I hate menards. Staff sucks, every time I go they're out of something big I need and I end up going to Home Depot or Lowes anyway. I also think it's pretty poorly laid out, but I could get used to that if they gave me any other reason to go. In short, I'd rather pay more at Lowes than deal with that shithole.

I was just trying to help :(

I like HD too. There is one a mile from my work and they are awesome.

Clicky clicky and a target trip to get some board games. Easy peasy and no crowd at the store at 10am.

Overall, this year's Black Friday seemed pretty lame and the deals on SSD hard drives were underwhelming (not bad, but still not amazing).

I bought a 24" LED "Dell" branded monitor for $95 after tax at Office Max. (They sold me on buying the $200 gift card for $187 and I used that on the $107 (after tax) monitor). Otherwise it was underwhelming.

Black Friday almost always sucks, especially since internet shopping has become mainstream. A few "lucky"? people get some of the limited (and usually shitty quality) loss leaders and the rest basically get a kick in the nuts for getting up at 4AM to go shopping.

The only place we've ever gone on Black Friday for shopping has been Michael's, later in the day. Mostly because there isn't one where we live and have a limited window for my wife to buy her crap before we leave town after visiting relatives. Regardless, it's not like Michael's is a huge BF shopping spot. :)

Shit deals for consumer morons. Yeah what a day. o_O

It's not worth sacrificing your mental health for paltry savings on garbage you don't need. Just be financially savvy enough to save/make money elsewhere and enjoy the fucking ride.

Oh I know. I wasn't crapping on the deals

That post just reminded me how much I can't stand that store, and in typical forum fashion if I have something negative to say it gets posted

I clogged the toilet at Barnes and Noble with a huge duece and about 5 pieces of wetted paper towels. Made a discreet exit.

Were the iphones really that important?

its easy to talk like this for folks who live in mommy's basement in the most affluent neighboorhoods in 'murica. for a lot of struggling folks out there this is their one chance to afford a tv or computer or whatever without breaking the bank and going into debt. let people enjoy their time and mind your own business. be thankful that you are fortunate enough not to have to go out shopping on black friday.

To my girls, yes (one waited with me the entire time - I'm not so sure that the bonding time that I had with her didn't make the wait worth it regardless of the phone). To me, the girls were important, not the phones.

This was the first time in about 5 or 6 years that I went out on BF. I generally buy online or not at all.

I'm pretty sure I've never gone out for a BF deal. The thought of muscling up to the front of a line, trying to squeeze through a door ahead of other people and racing down slick floors in an effort to be one of the first 25 to buy a marked down item does not appeal to me.

I hung out with family, ate TG leftovers and went for a hike.
