Not to make light of your situation (well, maybe a little) - At some point you have to ask yourself if you're really cut out for customer service. I'm in agreement with John here. With the attitude that you've displayed in this thread I can't help but think that it rubs off on your work performance and dealings with customers. You've made it pretty clear that you're miserable where you are at. Cut your losses and move somewhere else. $10/hour isn't that great of pay for a helpdesk, I'm sure you can find something that you're a little more -compatible- with at the same or better rate.

Agreed. The fact of the matter is that education costs money, and you will probably have to incur more debt to get the education that will allow you to remove yourself from the call center lifestyle. That said, I would much rather be an impoverished student than a call center technician bubbling over with rage and frustration. Based on this thread, and another one in which you called me stupid for not hanging up on ATTBI technicians when I did not get immediate assistance, I think you are either far too bitter to work well as a call center technician, or you never had the temperment for it in the first place. Either way, there are a lot of ways to make MUCH more than $10.80 an hour once you have a BA or BS, and I encourage you to make that happen.

Nik, it seems obvious to me that you don't tolerate fools well. If that's the case then customer service is the wrong line of work for you.

Nik has gotten better since he first started posting. He used to be a full time spaz. Now he only spazes out every now and then.

Hopefully he (and all his buddies up there) go to college and get degrees (or at least MCSEs) so they can get good jobs they don't hate, marry their women, and live happily ever after.

I was thinking maybe you could take a screenshot of your inbox to show him you're not getting the emails. Maybe with the date or something up on the screen also. Sounds like your manager is being a d|ck and not bothering to give your claims any reasonable consideration. If he was even half a manager he would know what was going on with his people.

Just a question for you, how are you supposed to connect to a Lotus Domino server with Outlook?

PS, it's a semi-sarcastic question as I'm fairly sure it cant be done, at least not to the extent that the Lotus Notes client can.

He would'nt be able to install it if IT were doing thier job by disabling any Installs.
You might talk to your Admin and get approval though?

Ever consider moving into Sales? Im not sure which company you work for and if they have a Sales/TM dept but it tends to pay VERY well.

Actually, Outlook does work with Notes.
You can Pop or IMAP Notes as long as Pop or IMAP is running on the server.

That's not going to give you all the features of the Notes client though, that will simply allow you to send/recieve e-mail and none of the other features.

I've considered sending a letter to the Service Delivery Manager, but the reports I've heard from others who have done it and my own experience with the man tells me that it would be a seriously bad career move. Not that I intend to spend my "career" at <insert company name here>. I dunno if anyone's sent a letter to the Site Director or Regional Site Director, but I'm also not so sure that it's worth going that far up the chain. Peons don't usually get anything but hit with a fly swatter when they open a can of worms.

And, no, I can't install jack poop. Yesterday, the managers were walking around with orders to walk people out (fire) those who were simply running AIM. One specific Senior (between tech and manager) was a few cubes ahead "helping" the managers but in all reality interrupting all the techs on the floor telling them to disconnect and exit AIM immediately - with no questions asked. Then the manager(s) came around after him looking over our shoulders. Thanks to Derek, everybody kept their jobs (one can be terminated for using AIM or other chat programs, even though everyone including the managers have been doing it ever since I got there). Hell I talk to my Seniors and Managers on AIM instead of calling or walking over to their desk. :) But I guess that's what SameTime is for. Anyway, the managers apparently got some heat from above and were forced to crack down. No biggie. Later that day they came around uninstalling Netscape because Netscape has a version of AIM built in. That's okay. We haven't supported Netscape in a while anyway.

Job sounds like it sucks ass. I think if I had some manager walking around checking to see if I had AIM I'd

"What would you do Red"

Well I'd cover that girl in chocolate syrup and boogie till the cows came home!
