Women are lucky

The females at my office (CPA firm) wear different types of outfits every day, just about anything you can think of that's appropriate in an office setting.

I on the other hand, wore a suit today. Tomorrow I'll wear a suit, and most likely wear one the rest of my life. Hell I'll probably be buried in one. I don't mind usually, but every now and then I wish there were more options for us other than changing the color of your shirt and tie.
It's not lucky at all. It's a lot more clothes shopping, figuring out what to wear every day, and more washing.

I am curious, and forgive my naivete (and absence of a sense of style or aesthetics) here, but what's the drive behind the big variety of clothes, and 50 different pairs of shoes?

Is it about style? Social pressures and societal double-standards? What is it?
(This isn't out of sarcasm, I genuinely don't really know what the prevailing reason is.)

I wear the same style of khaki cargo pants every day, and a polo shirt. The color of the shirt on a particular day is determined by the order it's hung up, and that's determined by the order it came out of the dryer.
Socks are all the same, and I wear the same shoes every day.
On weekends, the shirt is switched up for a T-shirt, which is likewise determined by what's on top of the stack in the drawer, also determined by the order it was removed from the dryer.

Get out the CPA office and get a job in industry accounting. I get to wear jeans tomorrow and haven't wore a tie or jacket in 12 years. I'm wearing short sleaves today.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't want to be a woman. What are the benefits anyway?

- More variety of clothing
- No itchy balls I guess?

And the drawbacks:

- Mood swings that make men not take you seriously
- Often less pay for equal work
- Increased discrimination based on appearance
- Being expected to do more uncomfortable stuff to make yourself look good
- Bleed out your vagina five days every month
- Give birth
- Higher risk of STDs and other "feminine ailments"
- Can't pee standing up
- Can't drive

You wear cargo pants to work?? Dude. Those things have been out of style for like 10 years. No one has gotten laid in cargo pants since 'nam.

Weekends too?

Obviously you're not female. 🙂 Of course you have options. Different suit fabrics, cut, style, color - do you know how many shades of gray there are? Different shoes, socks, etc. And then there are Accessories! Wow, pocket squares, cuff links, vests, watches, tattoos, key rings, wallets, phones, PDA's, the list is endless. Not to mention sexy underwear.

If you really want to have a complicated wardrobe you could. Try harder.

Given the choice between having a multitude of clothes and menstruation or having no menstruation and being able to urinate standing up while wearing dull clothes every day, I'd stick with the male option. But it's a personal preference, I do love women, The one thing I think women have over men is interpersonal relationships. Straight men are crap at friendships. I can't even tell my best friend I love him without being made to feel gay... 🙁

That's because it is gay.

And how does that make you feeel...

At the building where I work the women are all into wearing skin tight jeans almost every day. I'm really liking this place. 🙂

And my hairstyle has been out of style for 20 years. Oh well.
Being "up" with styles and fashions and such has been as much of a priority for me as getting regular pap smears.

(And at least two of the women at work wear cargo pants on a regular basis, so what the heck.)

I guess it pays to work in Silicon Valley - was an auditor for 9yrs and never wore a suit or tie. Would wear jeans every Friday, even to my clients, and from time to time wear a sport coat to a sales call.

Our Big 4 auditors show up in jeans every-day as we request them to dress down from the normal slacks & dress shirt attire.
