Wisconsin voters moving to recall vote on Republicans.

I have grave doubts about the success of these recalls. 25% of the electorate signing the recall petition within 60 days? That's an almost insurmountable hurdle. I assume 60-80% of the electorate even vote, further assume that is split roughly 50/50 GOP/Dems, and further figure the dificulty in getting people to sign petitions.

From what I heard, Wi Law doesn't allow for Arrest of these Politicians.

I heard differently.

The Republican leader of the state Senate signed orders finding the 14 AWOL Democrats in contempt and allowing the chamber's sergeant at arms to use police force to detain them if necessary. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says his orders are only binding should the senators return to Wisconsin.

I saw the Sgt at Arms on TV last night and he sounded like he was absolutely willing to have them arested.

WHAT? You better watch what you say about Mr. Dog. He's one of God's own special creatures. This guy has lived a really hard life, he used to be addicted to weed and was involved in gangs and went to jail but now he's turned his life around and his goal in life is to get dangerous people off the streets. But when he catches them he reminds them of Gods love for them and that God has a plan for all of us, he's not just a bad ass bounty hunter but a missionary as well. I doubt if you're half the man Dog is!

Now I know you are a troll. This shit is comic gold.

Right, that's why they left the state, isn't it?

If there's a outstanding arrest warrant bounty hunter will apprehend the said person. So it appears you just showed how little you know. Thanks for playing.

That's completely inaccurate. Bounty hunters are employed by bondsmen, for a fee. They have no legal authority to mess with anybody who hasn't jumped bail. They do, however, have extraordinary powers when dealing with people who have skipped bail.

It's not like the State of Wisconsin has put out a reward for their capture, either, because they're not doing anything illegal.

They got one! I hope they got to taze his coward ass a few times!

Too bad that was a representative that was trying to re-enter the building and not a senator.

Because of the limited entry allowed, he was seeing constituants outside, where he had set up a temporary desk, and when he tried to come back in, they didn't realize who he was and roughed him up. Nothing but a small misunderstanding.

But then again, we don't expect you to be able to read, dumbass.

Well, it's too bad you can't be bothered to check facts before you post.

I saw a report the WI constitution *prohibits* the arrest of legislators with three exceptions, like treason - none of which have been met whatsoever.

So, this is just the Republicans ignoring the constitution - presumably deciding that getting them pysically back and the vote done will outwiegh any punishment later.

Are you now supporting the constitution be ignored, in addition to all the other reasons this is a bad idea?

The Repubilcans have been despiarate - and abused their power.

- $100 a day fines for each Senator
- Cutting off access to the capital copiers (!)
- Re-assigining staff
- Threatening the pay of the Senators' staffs - in addition to ending electronic deposit

Speaking of abusing power and assigning people, the Republicans also just forced through a bill they couldn't pass by one vote, by simply removing a Republican voting no and replacing him on the committee with one who would vote yes - apparently something unprecedented. They did it on two committees.

From the Rachel Maddow show:

When I say Republicans have gone through all of the options available to them and then some, what I mean by “and then some” is that the Wisconsin state Constitution explicitly says lawmakers cannot be arrested during a legislative session unless they are suspected of treason, felony, or breach of the peace. And if you live in Wisconsin, the act of being in Illinois may seem really bad, but it‘s not treason.

In this case, it is pretty clear that Republicans don‘t even have this option that they decided to exercise today legally. That‘s apparently not stopping them.

Whether or not it‘s constitutional, though, there‘s also no way that they can enforce this arrest warrant outside of Wisconsin. Remember, the Democrats have left the state. It‘s also not clear if Wisconsin state troopers say it is unconstitutional and refuse to do it what exactly the Republicans will do then.

Wait, so the Senators should continued to get paid when they are not doing their job?

God, only in the mind of a "Progressive" would someone continue to get paid for not working.

I hate when I accidentally read a Patranus post.

First, a FINE is not 'not paying them'.

Second, not paying their STAFF who are doing their job is not 'not doing their job'.

Third: sing, pig, sing.

And by the way, they're doing their job. The Republicans - trying to serve their real masters, the rich who want to destroy unions over the people, are not.

Craig has no idea what he is talking about, as usual. If they get caught in-state, they can be taken by force to the capital.
