I wish it were colder in SoCal - there were just too many women showing off way too much skin today. Put on some fucking clothes damnit.

Since winter storms now apparently get names, What can we name that drought that currently plagues California?

Yeah you're right 80' in November is way too hot - I'd rather be dealing with Winter Storm Bella.

Exactly. :colbert:

If it's 80 in November what's it like in the summer? I'd rather wear more clothes in winter than light on fire every summer.

When it's short sleeves vs. putting on more clothes to protect yourself from the cold, I'll pick short sleeves and stay where I am.

Heat gets into your skin. Cold goes past your skin all the way to the bone.

80-100, but with minimal humidity. It's a far more bearable summer than DC or NYC IMO.

Everyone knows So-Cal is nice... you know, excepting for all the people there.

Gentrification is what you need: stop paying poor people to live there and let them migrate to Oklahoma or some shit state that needs more people.

You'll end up paying twice as much for everything, but you'll also end up with everyone being really decent humans.

Or you could learn to love the rain and move up the coast.

Yeah heat gets into your skin, then it gets into the rest of you and you get heat stroke. Heat stroke does have an advantage over frostbite in that it won't make parts of you fall off, instead it just makes you feel like shit until it kills you. yay.

How much you got now? We topped out at 10". And that's what stuck. There was a lot of melt initially when it first started. The air was above freezing and the ground is still plenty warm. I was getting two inches an hour for about two hours. That doubled me from 4" to 8" on top of the deck railing which is my "official" measuring spot. Two more inches came on top of that late afternoon into early evening. They said it was going to snow until 10 pm but it was pretty much over by 7 pm.

I don't know if this set some sort of record or not. Most years we don't even get a first snow until mid-December if then. We've had a number of Christmases with no snow.

seems to have peaked at around 2 inches or so.

It was mostly wet snow.

Now it is sunny.

You can put on more cloth, you can't get out of your skin.

They're still calling for most of the snow to fall today & tonight here in NW Pa.
We just got enough to cover everything last night here at my house but are expected to get 4-6 inches by tomorrow morning. Not bad at all.

Curious, do the calendar dates for seasonal identification differ from state to state (in the USA), or by country in North America? How can there be a storm in Fall be called Winter?
In the U. S. Seasons are designated based on the movement of the sun. When the sun is the furthest south in the sky it's the beginning of winter. When the sun is the furthest north it is the beginning of summer. The midpoint are spring and fall respectively.

lol @ naming winter storms. That's basically the same as naming rainfalls, except it's in winter.

We still have no snow here, probably going to be like that one year in the 90's when we had no snow even at Christmas. Was El Nino then as well.

I read that the most likely effect of el nino would be to have a wamer winter in the North and a cooler and wetter one in the South.

But my guess is that some of the excess moisture is going to work its way into the mid-Atlantic region so we could still see a lot of snow.

Yeah so far it's been much warmer here in the north than normal, still hovering above freezing most of the time. We got a couple sprinkles of snow and that's about it. We may get more throughout the winter though as if it hovers in the -15 range instead of -40 it will mean more snow.

I've been going to work angry because I'm getting fucked out of fall. I had the truck ac on last week! This week will be 40s, which is much more reasonable. I wouldn't live anywhere warmer than MD for any reason. I sometimes wish I had gotten out when I was young. I'd like to live in New England, but I've been here too long now. Too old to move.

We only ended up getting around 4-6", but the town about 30 minutes from us got a foot and a half. Last week it was almost 70. It was 5 degrees last night...wtf. I hate winter.
