any info on how to get aero glass to work?
I talked to my buddy and he had to find a modded driver to make it work. He doesn't remember which ones, but you're going to need an NVIDIA driver modded to work with mobile GPU's. That should do the trick

Well, so far I am semi-enjoying Vista. It's a nice change and I like the layouts. There's some things I hate, somet things I love. Not sure how long I will keep it installed though since I only use it to play around with and not as my daily OS.

What's the best way to remove this from my system? Dual booting with XP now. I can just format the drive under XP, but I wonder if it'll keep the dual boot option when starting PC.

Question for those who have installed this, does it let you specify a location for your user directory before install or during initial setup? I'd like to be able to put this onto my D:\ partition right from the get-go.

My registration says the software will expire on July 1st 2007. I assume it will no longer work beyond that point.

I got Vista drivers for my SB Live! 24bit, and I just checked the Audigy Platinum - they have beta Audigy Platinum drivers on their website.

You must install on a different partition or drive. The installs will not share any files/programs/drivers, though you should be able to access the other install via a second drive letter.

Here are the sha1sum/md5sum's for the 32bit vista: (I grabbed it directly from the MS servers)

$ sha1sum vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

2404153a60d81103861b876878893222a5529d3a vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

$ md5sum vista_5384.4.060518-1455_winmain_beta2_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso

Yes. Windows vista will be installed as an entirely separate OS. This seems to have some more info.

Not sure if that will work.. Im sure they have some kind of activation and wont let you use the same code twice...

Although, I am sure someone in Eastrrn Europe or China has managed to find a way around this...

I installed it and it was choppy graphically (using the system in my sig) I used the NVIDIA drivers. I then tried to play GuildWars and it was unplayable due to graphics.... That's about when I stopped messing with it and went back to XP.

From what I've read so far I won't be switching to vista unless it undergoes RADICAL changes. I'll use xp for as long as I can then pray someone has developed a viable Linux replacement. The more MS has done over the years, the fewer of their products I allow in my home or work. Right now it's down to office, xp, and server 2k3 so I really won't be losing too much when I finally forbid them altogether.

Good luck with all of that, you already know they rule the world and no matter how much anyone says "I hate using this or that because it's from microsoft" or "It's windows" you WILL NOT get away from it. It has become too dominant and nothing can really "take over" now because everyone knows windows and how to run it. Microsoft beat every other company to the punch, and it will remain in effect for long. That's why you don't see HP or Compaq, Dell, or any other "Buy-it-rather-than-build-it" machines with Linux or any other OS than something made by microsoft.

You mean like HP/Compaq? The more controlling MS becomes, the more they force evolution of alternatives. Vista is the grand-daddy of intrusive and controlling, therefore it stands the best chance of bringing about real change. In my opinion we're nearing a future where companies will return to merely supplying goods and services, and will stop trying to be everything to everyone and control every aspect exclusively.
