Really? What Quadro?

Quadro NVS 280 POS :p

Actualy, I was able to get it to run Aero decently! It looks nice, I just forgot how to do that 3D window shift thing.... what do you do again?

I think its start+tab. But it is the most useless thing in the world. Regular alt-tab is more useful because you can see all the windows at once rather than flip through them sequentially. It looks cool, but I'll never, ever use it, and I'd much rather have the memory it sucks up back. Its nothing more than a glorified alt-tab, unlike the actually useful expose in OSX.

MS is using the 3d acceleration in vista for basically nothing more than that retarded alt-tab and to make minimizes look cool. Rather than doing something useful like breaking the link between resolution and window/text size. As cool as the minimizes look, I'm actually considering turning glass off - its utterly useless.

is there any chance someone in the DC metro area or Northern Virginia has downloaded this already and can meet up with me to give me a copy (I'll supply the DVD)? I've registered and have my key but can't download through MS and the torrents are dragging for me. Please shoot me a PM as I'd like to play with Vista this weekend hopefully.

Mods, if this is inappropriate, I apologize. I assumed since it's publicly available, it would be ok.

What exactly is the purpose of the MS Akamai download manager? Isn't the whole purpose of a download manager to resume interrupted downloads? This thing just dies with a typical no info MS error box that says "An irrecoverable has occured" about 1GB into the download. :|

^^^

That was a quality rant about how aggravating the new explorer is - in its current state, its practically useless, and its not because of bugs, just the way its built.

But alas, IE7 appears to have the feature of quietly erasing any badmouthing when you so much as click another window.

Right now the interface of vista is intended to be used by absolute retards, at the expense of everyone who has ever used a computer before. There is all sorts of functionality that power users could tap into, if there weren't a few simple things that make it so painful to use.

Delete partition? I think since Vista uses its own boot manager, diff from XP, you can probly just remove the partition and voila

But I'm not 100% sure

I only had it installed for about 4 hours before I reinstalled xp, I guess I will wait for RC1. Its basically xp with a paint job and stability issues.

I read the OP and your link doesn't work. I got the key by following the procedure in that other thread.

I installed it on my machine on a extra Hard drive. It went very smooth. AMD 3000+ 64bit, 1gig of ram. Geforce 6600 PCIe. The only issues i had was with display problems. A window would come up asking for permission to a certain program or control window and each time my screen would shrink up and be in black and white. Also my video card was not powerfull enough i guess for the Aero feature. I didnt even see an option to turn that on, but not even the screen savers would work.
I wanted to take some snapshots of it but they all failed. I would get a shrink and black and white everytime as a result.

I must say that this is the most useless version of Windows yet. :p

The thing is a pig. There should be no reason any OS should consume 800MB of system memory out of the box.

I pray and hope that Microsoft falls flat on their face in their effort to create the most bloated OS in existance.

Your credibility as a windows critic is rather dubious considering your name.
Go back to your linux crap and STFU.
