From what I've read so far I won't be switching to vista unless it undergoes RADICAL changes. I'll use xp for as long as I can then pray someone has developed a viable Linux replacement. The more MS has done over the years, the fewer of their products I allow in my home or work. Right now it's down to office, xp, and server 2k3 so I really won't be losing too much when I finally forbid them altogether.
Good luck with all of that, you already know they rule the world and no matter how much anyone says "I hate using this or that because it's from microsoft" or "It's windows" you WILL NOT get away from it. It has become too dominant and nothing can really "take over" now because everyone knows windows and how to run it. Microsoft beat every other company to the punch, and it will remain in effect for long. That's why you don't see HP or Compaq, Dell, or any other "Buy-it-rather-than-build-it" machines with Linux or any other OS than something made by microsoft.
