There is a work around for that one... Go to Messenger's Compatibility tab and put it in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode. It will move to the notification area.
My main complaint is is more of an IE8 thing. How can I easily add a website to the jump list? I have three sites I like to keep pinned on the jump list, but I can't reliably get them to show up on the frequent list to pin them.
