I am ordering a Koolance PC2-C case tonight to keep the peace.

While I was waiting on that case, I decided to check the temps on all the computers since the house is warmer and Seti is running em hard.

Athlon 2400+ 38C degrees
Athlon 2100+ 44C
Athlon 2100+ 53C
Athlon 2000+ 54C
Athlon 2000+ 63C
Athlon 2000+ 64C
Athlon 2600+ 53C dual MP
Athlon 2600+ 52C dual MP

So, I shut them down except the first two and the dualie. I ordered two more Koolance cases and will be drilling some new fan holes. I'll also be reseating the HSF since I use Swiftech MCX460's and TT Volcano 9+. I'll get em back on line ASAP.

I would say the two that are at 53c and 54c are fine. I had a 7k RPM fan go out and an AthlonXp melted the aluminum part of an Alpha HS. After replacing fan and scraping the metal off of the HS, the CPU still works. It cannot be removed from the socket, but has been running SETI for over a year.

I updated the beginning of the thread with the 2nd system. Check it out. I am traveling and don't know what some of the stuff is and will not be able to finish the details until I return on 5/15.

If the race was over tonight, Matt would get his choice of one of the two computers and RavenHare would get the other one. In the previous race the person in last place (3rd out of 3 contestants) at the half way point started adding more computers and ended up the winner. So, it can be done! Travis just PM'ed me and said that the comuter arrived today.

First case came yesterday. I moved the 2400+ into it. Super quiet at 33C degrees! The 3 fans on top are almost loitering...and the temp-controlled PS fans are only at 1200rpm. Had to disable the slow-fan alarm. I'll put the 2000+ 64C into the old case with the old MCX460 that was doing such a good job and get that machine back to crunching tomorrow.

ALERT!!

Make sure you have plently of WUs in your queue and watch this thread for instructions!

We are moving this weekend. I have made plans for Comcast to get the cable turned on at the new place on Friday, 5/16, the day we close on the new house. I bought another cable modem so that I can have stuff running at both locations. BUT, I can't be sure Comcast will do what I asked. The IP address will change. I will get a box running at the new location and notifly you what the new IP address is. Then I will move the box with the queue. Since this will happen over the weekend some of you will have work boxes that could run out of WUs.

If this all blow up on me, (let's hope not!) then I will award the computers based on the standings at the time I turn off SetiQueue at the old house. We have to be out of here by sometime Sunday.

You don't really need to stop. I will not move the queue until Saturday or Sunday depending on what Comcast does. I want to test it out and post the new IP Addy before I move the queue. It is only 11.4 miles from where I now live, so I should be able to make the switch in less than 1 hour.

The comcast guy just left AND IT IS WORKING! Incredible!

Here is what I got on the bandwidth test:

Communications = 2.7 megabits per second
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000.
Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet

Storage = 328.3 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how file sharing and FTP programs measure transfer speeds.
Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.

1MB file download = 3.1 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.

I was getting 1.6 megabits at the other house! 😀

The IP address is : 24.92.145.24

BUT, I will not move the queue until tomorrow or Sunday...I will post that here!

I am about to pull the plug and move the computers. SetiQueue should be down at least an hour.

The new IP address is : 24.92.145.24

Wish me luck! I am already beat from 2 days of moving.

Well, it is up and running! 🙂🙂🙂

The IP addy is as I stated, but I had to clone the MAC address of the machine that was connected to the cable modem to get it to work.

OK, so it took closer to 2 hours! But, I did it!

You guys have done great and I'm very pleased with the results of the contest. A total of 6,124 WUs were crunched over the past month. That with our regular production has moved TeAm M&M into 430th place overall.

G19 let me know which computer you want and PM me your mailing address. The computer can go out Monday if you get the info to me. RavenHare PM me with your address and I'll ship the other computer to you.
