Two SETI @Home Cruncher up for grabs!
I still have two systems to get rid of and will give both away at the end of May 2003! They will be shipped free to anywhere in the Continental U.S. via USPS.
The first systems is detailed below:
The 2nd system is as follows:
I have been running SETI@Home for almost 3 years using my own resources without corporate help. I have bought and built all but three of the 23 systems that are crunching under my name. A few months back I renamed my account to TeAm M&M to acknowledge the help given me by David McOwen, who is hosting some of my systems. In the past 2.75 years I have been able to work my way to 506th place worldwide. With the help of the currnet contest I?ve been able to move into 470th place worldwide! I am hoping SETI 1 will be over soon and I would like to gain as much ground as possible before then. This is where the contest comes in.
We will run this contest for 31 days. The person who contributes the most CPU time and the person with the most SETI Work Units during that 31-day period will each win a computer. Even if you have a slow computer you can win by consistently crunching with your machine, or machines, running 24x7. The same person will not win both systems. But, the person with the most WUs will get first choice of either of the two systems.
Rules:
1..You may not divert resources from any other TA Distributed Computer project. But, you
?.may add new/other systems for the contest. If you are running SETI@home for Team
?.AnandTech then you are welcome to enter the contest using my SETI ID.
2..Total WUs for the contest must be at least 500.
3..If the total has not reached 500 at the end of 30 days,
... then we can continue the contest until that goal is reached.
....If all quite before 500 WU is reached then there is no winner.
4..If SETI 1 ends before the contest is over then the person
....with the most time contributed will win, in the case of a tie
....the highest WU count will win.
5..All submitted Work Units must be sent through my SETIQueue.
....It will be responsible for keeping track of contest progress.
6..The contest will start April 30th , 2003 at 10:00 PM EDT and run until month 10:00 PM EDT on May 31, 2003.
7..WUs must be submitted using my ID, as explained in the instructions.
8..Send me your email address for instructions.
There are two other reasons I am doing this:
1. To help Team AnandTech to maintain 5th place worldwide. We have been getting our butts kicked recently and really need your help!
2. We are moving and need to get rid of some computers.
