I remove the last two octets of the IP address.

Let me know and I'll assign you a dedicated port number instead of :5517.

This one is me. What do you need to know? My email is RavenHare. You find me @wideopenwest.com. I am new at SETI. Using your setup instructions, it seemed to grab 10 workunits from SETI servers before I entered your seti queue information. Don't know if that's a problem, but it's set up with your host and port proxy info. I'll switch port numbers when you say.

RavenHare,

Wow, your first post! Welecome to AT!

I PM'ed you with the port number. You box is not sending to me. Your 1st WU had an average time of 3h22m, but you haven't submitted in 9h57m. Are you sure Proxy Server is checked in SetiDriver? Or, are you holding WUs? Just checking.

Thanks for your participation!

John

YGPM - When you identify the clients I can give you a port number, then all your stuff will be consolidated into one client.

I'm not sure. I tried Seti one time before. My two computers completed 1 WU each and then rebooted. I figured 3 years was enough time for them to fix it. Maybe not...

I'll check it out when I get home, but I suspect my wife turned off the computer in the middle of the night (those 8 fans sure are loud). I am ordering a Koolance PC2-C case tonight to keep the peace.

The Koolerance looks like a great case/cooler!

The PC2-C features Koolance's advanced liquid cooling system in a mid-size case.
😎 <---Literally!

I have a p4 1.6ghz with 512 mb of pc2100 ddr and a cable internet connection thats just sitting here and not doing anything (its not my main comp), but its only able to be online for about 7 hours a day. How many WU do you think i can contribute in this monthly time period?

I guess your machine could do about 5 WUs per day if on 24x7, in 7 hours it should complete 1.45 WUs. So, for the length of the project you should produce about 45 WUs. That is about what my Dell notebook does. It is a PII-366.

You could also set the cache size and it will just sit and crunch and then transmit only when it's online.

Great point Travis! At 3 O'clock this morning all I saw was that "it is ON for 7 hours", not "...on-line." 😱 So, Yes fatbaby with SetiDriver and a cache of 10, you would always have WUs to feed that hungry P4. That would provide 5 x 31, or 150+ WUs. Give it a shot!

I was thinking about trying this on all 9 computers in my house for a month.... until I saw the specs of the prize :disgust:

That comp would make a good starter system for someone. Or you could donate it to a local school.

You could very easily make it a linux server using a black box program (ie Clark Connect)

I won the last system and I am fixing it up a little and giving it to my sister she is currently running a 233 emachines.

This is a perfect machine for one of my relatives or even one of the neighbors that come over to use my computers for schoolwork. I'd like to see the mods, too. Might help me overclock my own systems.

You couldn't win with your 9 machines anyway! 😛

I actually haven't post the specs on the two new system. I really need to decide on that and post the details. The one listed at the top of this thread is the one I am shipping today to Travis. The into in this thread states that:

The systems will be as good, or better, than the system given away in the first contest. I will update the thead soon with the specifics.

I've entered data on one of the systems and will add the other one soon.

When will your buddy start sending stuff?

We had some bad thunder storms tonight and my cable went weird. SetiQueue wasn't receiving for over an hour. I had to reboot the system to get it back to working order. I was watching a movie in the LR and noticed the picture would flash off and I wondered if it was also causing problems with the cable modem. Well, it did.

Anyway, it is back up and sending and receiving WUs! 🙂 But, it did give me a scare!
