I've seen his biography on CNN 2 weeks ago, and they said that in 98, he announced that he wasn't ready yet to run for presidency, even though many people were supporting him.

After seeing how he handles the State Department, I think he would indeed be a great President. He is very firm (he is the only one that has the guts to have a divergent opinion with Bush and Rumsfeld) and he has a lot, I mean a LOT of life experience. Also, he's a 4 star general, and the head of American diplomacy. His Curriculum Vitae extends in every domain!

Maybe in 2008 (2004 is probably too soon), he'll be the Republican candidate.

He won't get elected for the same reason Lieberman won't get elected.

There is no way he would get the Nod on the republican side. First the black thing and republican, yea right, Lott pretty much summed it up.
Second he is a very LIBERAL person when it comes to social issues.

Now would he get the nod as a Democrat, yes. When he retired Clinton asked him to serve in the White House, but Powell said he wanted some time off. Just like the republicans wanted him to help Bush campaign in his election and he said no.

I think he seems like a very honest person, but there is NO WAY he or any other minority would get the nod for Republican president. Not all republicans are like Lott, Helms, etc? But there are enough to where he could not win without there support.

Just out of curiousity, what differing opinions does he have?

Because he's a Jew?
