I hardly ever look at any of the tech forums, except occasionally when I see something pop up in 'New Posts'. But why are there still 'Mice' and 'Keyboards' forums, of all things? Each has maybet 10 active threads since the start of the year.

While the topic of Mouse and Keyboard may not generate a great deal of heated discussion they do generate a decent amount of views. Almost everyone on this forum has probably experienced the joy of needing a new mouse or keyboard and had the fun of searching for opinions on options, and by search I do mean search. Now they are compiled in an easy to find location. Kind of nice for a tech forum to make it easy to find tech information.

If you go by posts count to measure the value of topics then a dedicated "Mayne Forum" would be of great value.

Same conversations and “views” can be had in a Peripherals sub-forum. Excessive fragmentation is bad.

The re-org seems aimed at categorizing everything nicely for shoppers doing pre-sale research (shopping savvy ) - not so much attracting posts from forum members.

I just got back from camping and have to relearn this whole technology computer thing due to lack of using it for a bit. Then this caught me off guard, don't do that to me! :p

it's been relabeled "ask an IT professional"
Actually, that looks like the "Highly Technical" forum. I don't see Computer Help questions in there. And why is it under Social, rather than Tech?

nope, that was highly technical.

highly technical was for discussion of stuff not necessarily computer related that required deeper though/understanding and with less neffing than you'd get in OT. stuff like chemistry and physics.

edit: did computer help get merged with general hardware into the computer building board?

I guess that's OK, if "Computer Help" was merged with "Computer Building", but a sub-forum explicitly titled "Computer Help", was a very n00b-friendly thing, I think that it attracted new people. Now, it's not immediately clear to someone, where to post a help question.

Anyways, we get Mice and Keyboard sub-sub-forums, but... we don't get a "Coin Mining" sub-forum? C'mon.

I don't see how "Highly Technical" morphs to "Ask an IT Professional" when you just said "Highly Technical" has discussion of stuff not necessarily computer related. It seems more logical that something called "Computer Help" would be relabeled "Ask an IT Professional", but :shrugs:

I don't think so. It would have been nice if someone had at least told us what had been moved around in the forum reorg. I used to scan the Computer Help forum sometimes to see if I could help someone.

They didn't ask me.
I used to scan it to feel smugly superior knowing the answer to questions, but not telling anyone :^P

Where's the Computer Help section/sub-forum?
Maybe you just post your help question in the appropriate forum now. Have a question about your laptop? Post it in the laptop forum. Have a question about your kb&mouse post it in the kb&mouse forum. Have a question about why your computer stopped booting properly post it in the.....ummm....idk where you would post that haha.
But you get the idea right? No more Computer Help forum just ask for help in the most appropriate forum.
