I just got one about 6 months ago, glad I didn't wait longer!
Although using their website, it says its in stock at my local store... what tells you its discontinued?

Or maybe the right impression - they knew their audience. :D

I got an amazing deal on the Jerker desk during the last Ikea massive sell.

I got the desk, the optional top shelf, and like 8 of the side swivel platforms for about $100.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder who was the genius that pitched that name?

I've been wanting this for some time and happened to go by Ikea last weekend and saw it on clearence due to being discontinued. Finally got it at least :p and at a hell of a deal.

Guy there said they were going to have a whole new Jerker line but I'm not to sure he knew WTH he was talking about since he also told me they were sold out of them. Luckily I kept looking and found a stack of about 12 of then in a different area than they were supposed to be.

This desk kicks ass! :D

I've got a giant L-shaped desk, but these Jerkers are mighty tempting with all their shelves.

Oh wow, that sucks. I've been wanting to buy another but have been waiting for the new store in Portland to open. Oh well, looks like I'm going have to drive up to Seattle if I want one... and quickly.

Damn... why would Ikea discontinue the greatest computer desk of all time??

Hey Einstein, Ikea is a Swedish company (with the products being designed in Sweden).

"Jerker" is a Swedish name, not just a word. And if I'm not mistaken, "Jerk" (...) is comparable to "Erik".

What am I missing about the Jerker? I would walk right by that in the store thinking it is crap. However, people on ATOT seem to love it. So what is so nice about the Jerker?

Bad sides:
1) Ugly.
2) No place to store files (I need a filing cabinet with my desks).
3) Just like any other MDF/metal workstation that you can get anywhere else or build your own.
4) No, L-shaped workspace so you can have important books/papers just to your side while you see the computer in front of you.

Good sides:
1) Probably quite inexpensive.

So, what else do I put on the good side to balance this out?

dullard, besides its low cost, it is sturdy, extremely utilitarian, and almost infinitely customizable. And yes, I use mine in conjunction with a file cabinet for storage.

Yep... plus you can adjust the shelves and desktop for almost any desired ergonomic position.
