The state backed doping of athletes (Russia) and ethnic genocide via concentration camps and forced sterilizations (China) are apparently no big deal to the international body celebrating the "spirit of competition" and our "shared humanity." A fascist state mistreating an athlete, forcing her to travel against her wishes is wrong of course, but small potatoes given the larger context of what we're seeing. I think you are correct on the support of it among people on the slow side, the ones who conflate fascism with toughness and success, like Trump.

Kudos to Japan to helping her though, because fuck Lukashenko.

I noticed something when I was reading the FOX News comments about Raven Saunders. Virtually all of the comments about here were something along the lines of "She's an Olympic athlete making boatloads of money. She isn't oppressed."

The commenters in the article seemed completely unable to understand that just because the U.S. has a black LGBT athlete does not mean that people of color and LGBT people in America do not experience discrimination. This same mental meltdown is happening here with @s0me0nesmind1. It's sad that these people have no empathy or understanding of anyone other than themselves.

Yeah I'm not sure why it's so hard to understand that athletes like this succeed despite the racism and discrimination they face, it's not proof that it doesn't exist.

That racist asshole would have been the first person to complain in 1964 when Tommie Smith and John Carlos held up the black gloved fists on the podium. We are still dealing with the same issues in 2021.

Overall the majority of the GQP is just bad shitty horrible people.

The Dems are a party with their average amount of stupids, fringe wackadoos and all that, but overall a party of decent people trying to do decent things. The GQP is mostly evil.
