Why is CNN so far left?

Even as a democrat I think most of their articles appear to way undermine their readers on being a fair and balanced news network. It's like they just don't give a fvck anymore and they're pushing readers away.

Looking at their headlines on current events that's neither positive or negative news..

Trump has a private dinner with family.
CNN: "Donald Trump ditches his press pool again, spurring sharp criticism"

Trump works privately on building his administration with nothing officially announced.
CNN:
"A team of bitter rivals",
"Trump's transition team is likely his leadership style.",
"Trump's son-in-law at center of infighting"

An alternate news network exists that challenges their views.
CNN: "The alt-right is truly terrifying"

Good lord! Is there a news network that is more in the middle and less partisan?

CNN tossed out whatever credibility they had and went full steam ahead with team clinton, they pushed all the chips to the middle and went "all in". They got burned. Now they're just trying to figure out how they are going to survive: they can try to go back towards being a respectable news organization which is hard to do with such a tarnished brand, or they can just go msnbc or huffpo or salon or any other lunatic fringe outlet. Looks like they are going the latter route, we'll see if that works for them or not.

You don't get to duck out on your press pool when president (or president elect) like a teenager going out their bedroom window.

Take it up with the Republicans who talked/worked in the transition team and now want nothing to do with them who are leaking all this gossip.

Glenn Beck as a leftist. Tell me more.

CNN, the network that spent the last year and a half airing Trump rallies wholesale and without comment, often devoting airtime to nothing but just showing the empty podium in breathless anticipation?

CNN, the network that hired Trump's campaign manager as a pundit despite the fact that said campaign manager was still receiving money from the Trump campaign, was under an NDA covering Trump, and immediately quit to go back to work for Donald as soon as the election was over?

CNN, the network that spent more time talking about Hillary's emails than all policy issues from all candidates combined?

Hmmmm... IMO by Canadian standards, CNN seems at most centre, not even centre-left. Fox OTOH is extreme right.

If you think even as a Democrat that CNN is too far left, you'd likely be totally shocked up here.

Meh, I'm not going to call CNN left or right. I just despise their new "tablet" friendly UI and click-bait style headlines. That should be enough of a reason for anybody to quit reading it.

CNN has sunk to the same level as Fox News. Both news outlets are pretty garbage now. It's sad that major news networks are driven fully by ratings, no longer offering anything that has value and substance. It's getting harder and harder to find quality new outlets these days. It's not a wonder that a lot of Americans hate the media these days.

Yeah, I am visiting CNN way, way less than before. Those stupid click-bait articles polluting the front page now are very, very annoying.

Facts...
Presentations...
Graphs...
Credible professors speaking...
Inconvenient truth...

For world events, probably the best mainstream reporting IMO is BBC. They're pretty fair for US news as well, but obviously don't cover anywhere near as much of it as CNN does.

Are you familiar with how TV revenue works? Here's a hint: ratings. Covering Donald brought higher ratings than whatever drivel they would have otherwise aired. They covered him because it drove ratings, not because they wanted to. Same for every other media organization. They simply had no choice but to cover him, he moved the ratings needle.

CNN, the network that hired Trump's campaign manager as a pundit despite the fact that said campaign manager was still receiving money from the Trump campaign, was under an NDA covering Trump, and immediately quit to go back to work for Donald as soon as the election was over?

They have tons of pundits, most of them lefties. Why not hire someone who actually knows the Trump campaign as a pundit?

CNN, the network that spent more time talking about Hillary's emails than all policy issues from all candidates combined?

Lets face it, there was very little discussion about policies in this election, from either party. The viewers simply didn't care about the policies. It came down to which of these two jackasses do you like the least. Trump's ugly comments vs illary and her lies, corruption and email problem. Kind of hard to ignore a topic that could have landed the candidate in jail ;)

What's next?
Breaking: "Trump orders well-done steak, showing disregard for animal rights"

If it's on CNN, it would be "Trump orders super expensive steak, snubbing the regular Americans like his daughter did with her bracelet. Impeach him."
Fox would report, "Trump is world class, knows where to eat and how to order steak. Best president in the world."

Trump, eyes new potential trophy wife... <-- Media goes full blown gotta cover that.

Now if Clinton got it... a lot of silence, no press conference, etc. Maybe, a few riots in North Carolina or something...

the fact that it's unprecedented is the reason why it's making news.

the President is pretty much always accompanied by the press pool, a small group of reporters who stays on-hand in case a breaking news world event should come up so that they'll be there to report back to the rest of the country... we're not talking about them sitting in the dining room taking pictures of the family eating dinner, but it's expected that they'd be hanging out in an adjoining room or something.

if this was an isolated incident it may not be a big deal, but it fits into a pattern with Trump alongside banning news organizations who reported negative stories on him throughout the election.

To me, when a Press group that actually is focused on delivering factual, unbiased news instead of scrapping for ratings appears, they deserve to be allowed to follow Trump around. Right now, the press are the same as garbage day time talk shows that will say or write anything just to get more ratings, they aren't worthy of being included.

I usually jump between fox and CNN for my political news to get articles from both sides, but todyas headlines from CNN (quoted by OP) were almost like a tabloid.

Fox says he got rid of all of the political lobiests, CNN says his cabinet is in turmoil....and of course the truth is somewhere in-between. Ugh.

Does anyone have a news site they suggest for their daily news source? I find NPR news is pretty good, but they slant left in a subtle way on political stories and they tend to lose sight of being journalists on any green/global warming topic. (That's not meant to start any kind of flame war or suggest anything, it's just that to me they do much less reporting on both sides of those topics compared to their reporting on other topics)

I just started reading the European sourced news, still biased one way or the other, but a bit more objective and more of a world view.

The media grabs hold of the emotions of the public and presents news in the context that most matches these emotions. "Good" news sources present data that is neither falsified nor obviously incredulous, and, on balance, have only subtle political leanings. And, since they pander to emotional context, the implications of their news is far distorted.

Inherently, they are an entertainment source. I don't begrudge them that. I do wish that the game were more transparent, though. Masquerading as objective is dangerous.

"allowed" to cover POTUS? that's insane.

we're not talking about the national network talking heads here, the press pool is pretty much local beat reports who sit around just in case major news should break.
