Why is a repost so bad???

If you post something of interest, chances are that there are A LOT of people who haven't seen it, even if it has been posted before.

Yet, there seems to be a relatively small number of population who love to be REPOST!!! nazis, as if every time they scream it, they get another notch in their belt. Do you guys get a bonus if you happen to be the first one to notice? What about the 20th guy in the thread who screams it.... How pathetic is he (because we didn't get it, the first 19 times "REPOST" was said.)

There have been more incidents than not, where something is a REPOST, yet I have never seen it. And although I may find the topic very interesting, it's not something I would've searched for.

So, without the dreaded REPOST, I would probably not have seen the topic.

What's so bad about posting something again, especially if it's been a while? (And don't give me bandwidth, as a reason. There are so many more bandwidth robbing replies around here that are incredibly more useless.)

Actually, I do have an idea of why people do it.

It's a superiority thing. By screaming REPOST, it's very similar to my 8-yr boy pointing out that he already knows something that my 5-yr old just learned.

Ok, but had that person searched, realized that the story was posted x number of weeks ago, and then decided not to post it, I (and MANY others) would've missed out on the article (or whatever.)

I don't see what the harm is.

It's funny that when a lot of the repost nazi's make their own threads on this forum, they don't bother to title it correctly. IF YOU TITLE YOUR DAMN THREADS CORRECTLY MAYBE IT WOULD BE FOUND IN A SEARCH AND PEOPLE WOULDN'T REPOST.

Why not just bump the old thread unless the old comments no longer apply for some reason?

For example, you could have searched, found and bumped one of the existing anti-Repost-nazi threads
