I'm sure that she's really interested in what some ignorant Texan redneck thinks about her family. You should write to her and let her know so she can make sure to take your opinions into consideration in the future.

I admire them for adopting, but she did have her "own" baby with brad.
What i do not like is the speed in which she is adopting. I would have hoped she would have taken time with each child before adopting/having another.

Well, since I messed up in not researching her pregnancy background (makes mental note to research the sexual history of every woman I may possibly ever post about) and got my ass owned, I'll share the wealth.

I was neither born in Texas, nor do I currently live there. In fact, I'm from NYC. NYC, not NY State. Not exactly redneck, huh?

Though I do really love Texas. Especially their super views on the Second Ammendment and what constitutes a real marriage.

Sarcasm aside, the reason why *I* (if not most of the criticizers) are making a big deal of the fact that she did have a child of her own is that you made the supposed 'fact' that her kids are all adopted not only the post title but also part of your argument. I would be embarassed if I made such an erroneous assumption that undercut most of my argument.....apparently it doesn't faze you.

I dare say Angelina Jolie is smarter than your average American/celebrity. So, I will say, 15 years from now, these kids will be in good colleges.

Are you jumping on the bandwagon or is your personal life so small that you actually knew that she'd had her own baby? Watch American Idol much? You probably vote daily.

I had no idea she had her own kid. My life is far too busy to do research on it. I see things on the front page of CNN and newspapers; both of which I read daily. And so I comment.

*shrug* Correct or not, I speak my mind and I'm happy with that.

Uh...Mike? Just point your finger and they're dead.

Sigh, I guess I'll check for you... I expect this to be a lengthy process with a multitude of tests... expect my findings in a week or two with a bill for tools and labor.

You're a brave man.

Sure; it's nice that's she's adopting children that would probably be euthanized by their respective third world governments before they reached reproductive maturity. But I want to see where these kids are at 10 years from now when it's not fashionable to adopt a pet anymore. Will these kids be attending some private school in the states with a trust fund ineritance...or will they be plowing a field back in their native homeland after Barbie loses interest in her new pets?

Thoughts?

1. It is none of my business.

2. I can not criticize anyone who adopts children, raises them with love, and improves if not saves the children's life. She is fighting a good fight.

3. OP what exactly have you done for the world lately?

maybe she's got a genetic disorder that she's afraid would be passed on to her child... like, for example, maybe she's a carrier of some x-linked disorder... if she has a boy, he'll have it for sure.

My personal thoughts on adoption are in my sig.

And I don't think people need to worry about others, famous and beautiful or not, wanting to adopt children out of poverty. They're damned if they don't desire to help others, they're damned if they do.

Myself I think her desire to adopt these children is fantastic and is great exposure to the adoption needs of children around the world.

From what I remember, and this is from someone who doesn't really read the tabloids, she adopted long before celebrities started to do it. In fact, she adopted her son (I'm assuming) because of her visit while being a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN. Or it could've been during one of her films, for all I know, but I'm assuming.

Also, I think she and Brad are having a baby together.

[edit] Looks like everybody spoke their piece. I just wanted to speak mine. :D

You don't think that while it's a "good thing" it's a bit self-serving?

How about going exactly 2 miles from Hollywood to some Compton-esque "hood" and adopting?

You guys are missing my point completely.

Nah, we just think you aren't very clever.

The paparazzi try to follow Angelina no matter where she is or what she does. If she adopted from an American orphanage there'd be just as much media hoopla.

On another note, it can be difficult for someone not legally hitched to a member of the opposite sex to adopt in the USA- I know someone who adopted from China because the process was much less of a headache. For Angelina, adopting from a third world country instead of the US also means she'll be dealing with far fewer people who have preconcieved notions about her like MichaelD here does. :disgust:

She also kisses her brother.... on the lips... in public.... not that there's anything wrong with that...

Well...outside of the original poster's "thoughts"...I'm very impressed with this thread.

My wife and I are adoptive parents. We have a beautiful nearly 4 year old daughter from Korea and we're in the process of adopting a 3 year old little boy from Vietnam. Yes we looked into domestic adoption...but for a multitude of reasons this is how we chose to raise our family.

I obviously don't know Angelina from Adam...but I admire her passion for international adoption. But let me make one thing perfectly clear..."celebrity" adoptions are in the VAST minority of adoptions on the whole. Do you want to know who adopts the most? Folks like me...your neighbor...your cousin...just plain ol' middle class folks. Trust me...there are plenty of families that adopt that make less money than myself...and I'm by no means well off. So please don't give me this "trendy" business.

Absolutely the best thing my wife and I have ever done. We are so lucky and so blessed.

I thought she already had a child?

I personally think its commendable that she's adopting children from 3rd world countries since she's at a financial position to do so. If anything, people that go through elaborate and expensive procedures to conceive rather than adopt are more selfish than she is. and from what ive read in the tabloids she hasn't mistreated them.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, her daughter with Brad.

She is NOT doing this for the publicity. First of all, she's an Oscar-winning A-list celebrity who doesn't need 'gimmicks' to generate buzz. Releasing sex tapes is a gimmick - adopting a child that you will love and care for the rest of your life is not. And the reason you see her in the news is because Hollywood celebs can't even scratch their butt without pictures of it appearing all over the internet. If a female celebrity goes for a jog at 6AM with no makeup, her picture WILL end up on the Internet where geeks in forums can bitch about how 'ugly' she is, how her abdomen sticks out a quarter-inch too much blah blah blah.

The media follows Jolie, not the other way round.

Are you stalking Jolie? Have there been any reports of her giving her adopted children step-motherly treatment? Does she hit them? Does she yell at them? What the hell do you know about good a parent she is? Why do you even care? Do you demand 24-hour surveillance tapes to prove she is a good mother? Why should any parent have to prove to the world how great they are at their job?

If she's a bad mother, some paparazzi/journalist will dig up a story. Until then, speculating she is a horrible mother is just plain moronic.

Unfortunately i didn't get in before the ownage. Maybe i'll make it into the next thread where MichaelD rips Bill Gates for donating to health programs in Africa, when there are unhealthy people right here in America.

Thoughts?

Choke on a dick you worthless piece of crap.

I was adopted by a loving mother and father who opted to take me instead of producing a child on their own.
