Why does Trump get so exercised over black athletes peacefully protesting vs white nationalists?

If he had Aaron Rodgers level talent, he would be taken. Given his 2nd tier abilities, team owners are probably blacklisting him because he started a movement that appears to be affecting the entire NFL's bottom line in a negative way. Its all about the green baby......

I agree! The thing is that people (lots of people, in fact!) are trying to claim that Kaepernick's lack of a team is purely due to his skill level, which is obviously false. If anything his numbers were probably depressed last year from being on a near talentless team.

I don't really disagree but that's sort of my point. The idea that there's a quarterback sitting on the market who isn't taken that would be an upgrade at STARTER for at least a handful of teams and a solid backup for almost all of them is basically unheard of.

Yeah, they are clearly trying to avoid the bad publicity. Kap isn't good enough for a team to be willing to endure it. If he was someone like Drew Brees, they'd take him in a heartbeat in spite of the controversy.

And for the record, yes, I agree that all this howling over Kap taking a knee is stupid. I've never understood the conservative version of patriotism, where it's all about flags, symbols and songs. It isn't real patriotism. Free speech makes America great, not flags, anthems and pledges.

If dipshit hadn't tweeted about it, it wouldn't be a big deal. There was one, then a few guys doing it. Eventually it probably would have fizzled out, or at the least the media and public would get bored of the issue.

End of the day, if their employer is ok with it, and willing to accept the risk that the public will boycott or whatever....and there's nothing legally wrong with it---then that's it. Watch or don't watch if it bothers you.

You'd almost think that "conservatives" just love to have their controversial issues to froth at, and if the issue isn't controversial or big enough, just do what you have to do to inflame it. Trying to tell people who have a strong view about something that they aren't allowed to express themselves...yeah, that's the opposite of trying to get them to stop, and a sure-fire way to draw in others that might have been on the fence about it (as we just saw).

You forget that not only did he comment on the kneeling and calling them SOBs, but in virtually the same breathe he "rescinded" his offer to GSW to visit the White House AND he talked trash about the NFL being watered-down and attacked their product and effort.

Let's not forget Trump's great relations with the USFL too. He's been jealous of the NFL (much like that of Hollywood) for 30+ years.

GREAT article:

Sigh, too many blacks in the NBA...Too many illegals who can't speak English in MLB, too many socialist Europeans in soccer and now a racial equality controversy in the NFL???

Don't worry deplorables, you still have hockey, wrestling, UFC and NASCAR!

I think I've told that story before but basically I used to be a hockey player and my wife is Canadian.

Why Canucks? If you ask that question you are not a sane human being.

Well, given that I've been a Canucks fan since the mid 70s (when I moved here from Winnipeg) I already know that I'm crazy. :p

What position? I play defense, and in my prime was lethal at penalty killing and going Clegane in the corners.

Ah, a sane human being... AT LAST! I have to say, apart from London there is no other place I would consider living and I've lived everywhere. Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world and quite frankly, it's better than London but if you ever tell anyone I said that I'll staunchly deny it.

Good on ya, Canuckian.

Sorry dude, I would never disrespect Canada or the greatest show on ice, but apparently some deplorables have a thing for Swedes and Finns. Something about those "pure Nordic bloodlines"?

All I know is I prefer my Swedes looking like this:

Offensive position, center or left depending on the people I played with. Mainly the guy who either hands the puck or stands up in front of the goalie to cover his sight.

In my prime I could stand up against three people trying to move me out of the way and take a beating walking away with two people ending up in the penalty box for roughing.

Unlike most Brits my age and indeed players holding that position I still have mainly my own teeth, four of them are unusually white because the dentist that replaced them after I took the tip of a stick to them mouth sucked.

Hockey player, eh? I knew there was a reason why I sympathized with you. ;)

Ignoramus... Forsberg has nothing on the greatest Swedish player of all times, Mats "Sudden" Sundin.

That man wasn't just an artist, he made everyone he played with all star players.

As a boy born and raised in southern Ontario I will not disagree.

Well, I grew up in London, spent my best years in London and it'll take three years until I'll even consider moving to Vancouver... ;)

I do love Canada, I loved playing there, I love the women (hell I married one) and I love the people. The nature is astounding and the cities are such... strange beasts. You want to be left alone you can go there, you want to party and have fun with loads of people, you can go to the same place.

I do love it, it's my home away from home and my wife's home when she is not away from home.

God damn it, you're about to have me count the days...

Vancouver's fave Swedes

sedins-184714025.jpg

Well, the Sedin twins are great and all but Sudden is one of the few geniuses that wasn't only a great centre but someone who could make an entire team winners. I think it was in the 94 Olympics when he played 43 minutes in one game and in 5 minutes they picked up 0-4 and won by 5-4.

That is the shit he could do, the man was a fucking giant. You have to respect a great hockey player no matter what team they play for.

That said, Henrik and Daniel as a team did so many plays that everyone, including the Vancouver defense were confused and then just went to cheer the goal.
