Please do. I don't think you have really spent any time listening to country music. The songs that are good are not usually the ones that make it to the Brittney Spears channel you listen to. Reality plays a large role in Country music and a lot of you are not in touch with it. Usually people who sing country music can sing anything. The same cannot be said for artist of other genres. Most other artist don't write their own songs. When you go to a country music concert it sounds like it is supposed to. The same cannot be said for other artist. I like most kinds of music and attend about 3 concerts a month and I'm usually dissapointed by artist other than country. As for the songs being simple and stupid, you just assume that because that is the cool thing to do.. I think experience gives you an appreciation for country.
Redneck trash huh? I would like to see a stereotype that you associate with redneck trash that applies to me or any of the other people I know that listen to country besides the fact that we listen to it.

what? most other artists cant sing other genres? thats just bs. most of them from all genres can sing anything, theyre singers.

i listen to country all the time as my wife likes it. she likes it because it its simple, emotional, and easy to digest. shes not white trash, nor do i judge her for listening to it. but how can you call tim mcgraw, faith hill, all these nsych/backstreet boy wanna-bes country? when i think of country, i think of george jones, hank williams sr./jr., conway twitty, johnny cash, patsy cline, tammy wynett, loretta lynn, etc. i dont think of all the high pitched crooners that i cant tell if its a man or a woman singing.

the other day i heard a song, something about little boys growing up to be men, and then having boys and becoming little babies again or some crap. i can appreciate the message. i have a son and daughter of my own, and each day they do something which makes me proud. but that song is just pathetic. so obviously plucking on the heart strings of all these women who love them some sensitive mens. :vomit;

of course this is all just my opinion. to each his own. i hate most music today, and find myself listening to echoes on public radio more than anything these days.

Most can't even sing the music in there own genre. I don't understand how you came to this conlusion. It is for the most part overprocessed and nothing like it really sounds.

but how can you call tim mcgraw, faith hill, all these nsych/backstreet boy wanna-bes country?

I didn't. That is not my idea of country which is why I said "The songs that are good are not usually the ones that make it to the Brittney Spears channel you listen to.".

On the rest we are in agreement.

*grabs some popcorn & holds it over this thread to pop it*

I just don't like it, it's not nearly as bad as Ditzney Spears and the like though. I wouldn't consider bands like Skynard, Molly Hatchet, and the Allman Brothers country, because then I'd have to like it :p I categorize them as 'Southern Rock'.

A sensible answer.

It was Labor Day weekend I was seventeen
I bought a Coke and some gasoline
And I drove out to the county fair
When I saw her for the first time
She was standing there in the ticket line
And it all started right then and there
Oh, a sailer's sky made a perfect sunset
And that's the day I'll never forget

I had a barbeque stain on my white tee shirt
She was killing me in that miniskirt
Skippin' rocks on the river by the railroad tracks
She had a suntan line and red lipstick
I worked so hard for that first kiss
And a heart don't forget something like that

Incredible, how deep the messages can get.

I wanna talk about me
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my me my
What I think, what I like, what I know, what I want, what I see
I like talking about you, usually, but occassionally
I wanna talk about me
I wanna talk about me

You win.

I don't wanna hear about farm girls, inbred families, or going to the bar.

I consider myself a redneck and think it is kind of odd that such bashing is allowed. It wouldn't be allowed for a religion or a race.

Why does everybody hate rap?

1. It is the music of n*ggers and wiggers.
2. I dislike n*ggers.
3. The themes of the songs are vulgar and stupid.
4. It sounds bad.

I could go on.

I find what you say as offensive and stereotypical as most will find this.

My god, we agree on something.

There's a difference between white people and redneck trash, and there is a difference between black people and ghetto superstars.

I dislike the rednecks and superstars.

Absolutely nothing wrong with country. It just doesn't appeal to most people. While I normally do not listen to country, every once in awhile it suits my mood. But I have to admit that you have to experience live country music to really appreciate it.

The only country music I've heard that I can remember liking were those songs on the episode of The Simpsons where Homer manages a country-western singer ;)

I've finally bagged me a homer...

It's just not my thing. It's difficult to define why your tastes in music are the way they are, as it's such a subjective thing. If you like it and you're not afraid to say so, more power to you :)

THose are both excellent songs. Especially the first one. I <3 Tim Mcgraw.

This thread is silly. It's like asking why everyone hates asparagus... Everyone has different tastes, and you can't judge someone because of it. Myself? I like men.

It's skillless garbage, with the premise of all of the songs always being the same. Most of them are about some white trash dad teaching his dolt of a son the ways of life, like how to fix a carburator, or go fishing, or how now his daughter's grown up and away with her own man, etc. It's a little taste of romance for a person easily stirred. There's a reason why country music is favored by cross breeds more than it is scholars.

I like older country (Willie, Hank Jr., etc.) but new country sucks, like the large majority of commercial music these days. It's all the same rehashed garbage. I already know about your dogs and your truck and your ex and how you like to fish, dammit, tell me about something I don't know.
(Although I'll admit that I like some of Brad Paisley's stuff, my dad just got me started listening to him)

Cross breeds? That's a pretty horrible slur for interracial people. I'd think you were a more sensitive person than that.

I believe that country music is very talentless. The songs that come out are bigger cookie-cutter style than Nickleback, and it takes little to no effort to compose the music itself. Aside from that, the subjects of the songs offer a minute difference from every other country song. Country music is more about an image that rap, which is pretty pathetic. How often do you see country music stars dressed in non-stereo-typical clothing?

In short, Country Music is music for simple minds that really can't comprehend music as a form of art. While it works for some people, people who appreciate music steer clear of country.

Now, when I say this, I understand there ARE exceptions. Legends such as Cash and Hank Williams, HW Jr, are very noteworthy artists.

So much happier then the crap out there.. puts you in such a good mood. Much better then everyone just rapping about killing people and doing drugs.
