Why does Apple make it so hard to give them my money?

Ive used macbooks before and in the end its not that different from a windows experience... And when i had it on the move .. I was so damn worried about scratching it or getting it dirty because, you know, it costs a lot of money.. I resold it and bought a dell. I guess im trying to say, a laptop is just a tool to me. It doesn't have to be a work of art or w/e. So i cant justify paying that premium.. again

Quick question, how do you play a Blu-Ray on your MBP-->TV? It's just what you said, you have to buy extra accessories that are usually standard (Blu-Ray player, HDMI) on PC's. I don't blame you for not wanting to pay that premium again.

Nu-uh...everyone says it just works:colbert:

Right😕

Hmmm, I've always thought they made it easy for me not to give them my $$. Overpriced, overrated chic toys fail to open my wallet.

I dont think Blu-Ray players and HDMI are standard on in-store PC's yet. I could be wrong though.

What's funny is that some of the people with Apple laptops are so worried about normal wear and tear that they spend extra money buying what's essentially laptop condom cover so they don't dirty up their precious laptops for future resale value. 😀. Laptop condoms, overpriced and unnecessary AppleCare. Meanwhile PC laptop users use their machines freely and just buy new one if it breaks or becomes outdated.

Blu-ray isn't, but HDMI is more common than you might think even on low-end machines. I know it's on my parents' Dell Studio Hybrid and I'm fairly certain it's also on the Inspiron mom got not long ago.

HDMI is pretty much standard even on < $300 laptops. Bluray is not but optical media is pretty much dead.

why do people buy acuras and lexus? they are just honda's and toyotas with a $7000 premium and the same parts

same concept with macbooks

What are you rambling about? Who gives a shit about acuras, lexus, Honda, and whatever. Are you saying people who buy these cars wrap their cars with laptop condoms too?

I get his point. He's saying that under the covers the hardware is the same. There's differences in terms of how to use it, and it's marketed to a different crowd of people. It's not what your selling, it's how you sell it.

I also agree with you. PC's are disposable to users, resale is a moot point. I value my PC's due to emotional attachment because I build them from scratch. I spend time, money, and effort to get it just the way I want. But that doesn't mean it's worth something 3 years later to anyone but me.

If the cars all had the same engine, chassis, etc and only the body style was different it might be a good analogy...as is it's BS

He's trying to say they aren't the same underneath...

Yes, but I can get it from Dell if I order it that way. Macbook Pro, nope. Have fun using an external.

Yes it's nice to have the option. But who uses Blu-ray for things other than movies? And since Apple is already into the whole digital distribution thing, who needs Blu-ray in their products.

they do have the same engines

there are differences between the lines but acura/lexus have much higher profit margins than the honda/toyota model that it's based on

You are aware that Blu-Ray is better quality than anything streaming? Yes, why would I want to watch the best quality of my favorite movie...

There's more differences than similarities between the cars...not the same type of comparison

Aside from the OS and a couple cans worth of aluminum there's no difference between a Mac and a PC...nothing to justify the price

How about picture quality? Oh wait, apply fanboys don't care about that 😛

same with MBP's

i've read apple uses the higher end intel chipsets unlike most OEM's. better screen coating, the aluminum case is close to $100 in some models. a lot of the DIY crowd loves the crazy desktop cases but apple gives you a nice aluminum case and people hate it. the nice 80 PLUS or better power supplies are standard. no crapware

Not sure if you read the post above, but if you are going to pull stuff out of your ass you might want to stick to computer tech, as the horrible analogy combined with information you don't actually know makes you look rather foolish.

If Apple manufactured two "tiers" of products and labeled them differently in different markets it might make a bit more sense. Couple that with if you actually had any numbers on what Honda and Toyota's profit margins are on their various models, and then you would have really been on to something.

As it stands now you have a bad analogy with no data to back it up.
