Hey, roundabouts > cross roads ;)

cloverleaf > roundabouts

and cloverleaf is about the worst highway interchange ever used in the US.

Do non-Americans say time backwards too?

Example..
Question:Hey mate, what time is it?
Reply: It's PM, 30, 3. Time to start drinking!

:p

I like roundabouts, very efficient.

On the topic:

I think that if our founding gfathers had been real patriots they would have reset the calendar like any other great empire would have done so January 9, 2007 would be Franklin 5th, 230. Would have avoided the whole Y2K mess, or at least delayed a few years.

Year/Month/Day or Day/Month/Year would make the most sense...but we grew up on Month/Day/Year.

too bad.

cloverleafs work well on low-traffic roads. they're mostly being replaced with parclo A4s in ontario.

Speaking of roudabouts....

Best way to fix a 4-way stop. That way the actual drivers can make their way. The timid ones will sit there all day.

But don't you guys still display the date as MM/DD/YYYY?

See if I or anyone else in the UK (Not sure about the rest of Europe) were to spell out the date, it would be ?Day ? Month ? Year".

To me it makes more sense numerically.

In Canada the official way is D/M/Y but because of our closeness to the states everyone always seems to be mixed up and does it whatever way they want.

Infact, my school goes yyyy/dd/mm

Yeah, I use international dating, just like I use 24 hour clock and usually try to use metric. Reason, not tradition, is the way to go. I've actually had to challenge grades in college because I was marked down for using that dating system instead of standard American formats. I've won every challenge so far, but it's a pain to have to keep doing it.

In America! *American bandana and gruff voice*

Many places, excluding america, show their date as DD/MM/YY. We just have to be different.

In Spanish, and other languages, you are taught to say the day of the month, such as cinco de mayo.

Logically, the best way is

YYYY MM DD

It's so much easier to sort in that format.

I don't see how that is any more logical than DD/MM/YYYY...

The bit that matters most, and which we refer to most, because it changes the most, is the day ;) What certainlymakes no sense is having the measures of times all mixed up, like you Yanks do, rather than in a logical increasing or decreasing magnitude order;)

I'd be happy with YYYY/MM/DD, but i think our system works best ;)

I totally agree, the american way is wrong. Short(day)Medium(month)Long(year) Makes sense. Just because some people say july the 4th instead of the 4th of july dosent mean they should screw with the way dates are written.

DDMMYYYY does not sort in chronological order. For example, if you name a bunch of files using DDMMYYYY format, then do a Sort-by-name in Explorer, it will not be in chronological order.

Actually the majority of Humans use the dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd and Canada apparently only uses mm/dd/yyyy it because the US does.

Edit: Excuse the Typ0 :)
