Why does America display the date MM/DD/YYYY.

Really? Try reading the whole thread ;)

EDIT: Said aloud BTW it would be, ?seventh of January, two thousand and seven?. No need for the ?in the year? part.

year/month/day is best imo. though i write day/month/year, i write it in reverse order (right to left) because when i think of date, the year comes to mind first, then month, then day (the day takes me the longest to think of).

If I had to choose one way for our culture to do it, I would choose DD-MM-YYYY, it follows a logical order. However we already do it this way.

Sometimes I abbreviate the month with 3 letters just to be clear
