I tip because it's expected. I don't however reward laziness or rudeness.

Social norm. Makes me feel good that I made someone else feel good... through money. That almost sounds wrong.

These things have only 1 valid opinion. Women have a right to an abortion, no mater what their age is. A 10 year girl should be able to abort the parasite in her body without any parental consent. Gay marriage is a natural right, and for states to infrindge on it is a violation of the natural right of these people.

"I don't tip because society says I have to. All right, if someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them something a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, it's for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job."

I tip very well, 30% or so typically, because I don't want to get a bad rep are my favorite places. Most of those servers, waiters, waitresses, etc, deal with idiots and assholes day in and day out and get paid next to nothing

Because it's the price of going to restaurant. I just factor it in when deciding if I want to go out or eat at home. If there was no tipping, like in Japan for example, waiters would expect higher fixed wages, and that would be factored into price of your food anyways. So ultimately, if you don't tip, you are simply having tipping customers pay for your service, and I don't like doing that. Also it is nice because it gives you flexibility to compensate good service better than bad or mediocre service.
On the other hand, I don't believe in fixed percentage tipping. Just because you are a waiter at a nice restaurant, does not make you a brain surgeon whose time is worth 20 dollars for the 5 minutes you spent bringing us our food and picking up our dishes. You are still a waiter, so don't expect 15% of a 3 figure bill.

Please don't encorage an abortion debate. They always end poorly. No one is ever converted to the other side.

I tip for good service. Makes me happy receiving good service and tipping the person tells them that and they like getting money :)
Also helps if it is the same person overtime, they will go out of their way to do stuff for you since they know your a good tipper.

David Hasselhoff was in Tucson last night and went to the sister restaurant in the company. We got a call about it at the end of the night.

$14 on $70.

Because it's expected. Restaurants pay them like $2/hr assuming that they make a reasonable wage from tips.

For jobs where the employee earns a reasonable hourly wage, I feel no obligation to tip, and rarely do.

I tip because I have had jobs where tips were my main source of income. However, I will not tip a bad server/delivery guy/bartender/stripper just because society says I have to. I did my job well and got rewarded for it. Shouldn't they as well?
