Just curious.. why?

I have ZERO reason too.. I might enjoy going down to the gun range and firing one once or twice.. but other then that.. meh..

Yes, I do. I hunt. Deer = cheap meat. I like it better than beef. Also, venison jerky is great, and sine my uncle will do all the prep for me in exchange for 1/4 of the final product, its easy, too.

Hunting aside, I find trips to the firing range to be fun. There is also the fact that they can be useful in defending your family/possessions in case of a break in.

I've always been against guns, and still am for the most part..

I think they're the single worst invention in human history.. their only purpose is to kill, even if sometimes it is for food.. lol

That said.. I wouldn't mind having a small rifle for survival purposes..

They're tools, not toys as far as I'm concerned...

A gun is just a TOOL. It can be used for good, bad, or nothing at all. I could sit in a room all day with 200 loaded weapons around me, and be just as safe as if I was in an empty room, b/c without a human action applied to the firearms, they are as threatening as a lamp.

I like mine because I like to fantasize about using it to protect myself and some girl from a bad guy. I think about being a hero and getting love and generally all that makes me feel better. I constantly run 'what if' scenarios like that where I kill a monster, an alien, some hells angles, some iraki terrorists and so on. It gives me something to do while I bite my finger nails and kind of helps me to avoid knowing how scared I feel.

Once again moonbeam comes through and nails it right on the head..

But I do understand hunting could be a legitmate reason to own a gun.. but I dont know of any other reasons..

Umm..
-you are driving through LA and people start throwing cinder blocks at your car.
-you are walking through LA and people start throwing cinder blocks at your head.

Hmm, it appears as though Moonbeam believes that, acknowledging the possibility that fire could strike your home, imagining what scenarios might or are most likely to unfold if such an unfortunate and potentially tragic event should occur, determining a plan of action to protect one's self and family in the event of a fire, is really nothing more than fantasizing about being a 'hero' so one can feel important and loved.

Hell, those of us who have acknowledged the possibility of a fire and formulated plans of action to protect ourselves and family in such events may, according to Moonbeam, even be extremely likely to set a fire deliberately so we can then rescue ourselves and family, out of a Factitious/Munchausen by proxy type need to be perceived as a hero.

Surely, then, the "real" reason anyone would buy a fire extinguisher, is because they fantasize not only about rescuing those from danger, but battling the fire itself ala some repressed firemans complex.

I just enjoying going to the range and popping off a 100 rounds or so. I have no illusions that I could use it to defend myself if someone broke into my house for a couple of reasons.

1.) The situation is to fluid.(ie I have roommates and they have GF's so I might accidently hit one of them)

2.) I would still probably be very much asleep.

Since Moonie stays locked up at home all the time, there is no reason for him to own a gun. He has no wife or family to protect. Should anything bad happen, he'd just jump under the covers of his bed and assume the fetal position.

For the rest of us, there are different things to do. I happen to live in a rather high-crime area...St. Louis. I'm not about to roll over and play dead (like Moonie) should the worst happen. To make it in this world, you hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. I sleep well at night because of a Colt Python .357....loaded and ready to use. Too bad Moonie, you're not allowed in my house.

Permit me to quote an old saying..."Abe made everyone free. Mr Colt made everyone equal."

I've owned hundreds of guns in my life. None have ever hurt anyone.

I prefer military style firearms. Most sporting rifles got their start as military rifles. The only real difference is the look. Internally they are identical.

Why do I own a gun? Because it is a right granted me by the Creator! It could be used to defend myself from all enemies, foreign and domestic. It prevents government from enslaving the populace. They could prevent crime and just the ownership of a firearm has been shown to decrease home invasions. Legal gun owners stop more crimes than the police. Crime rates in the US are dropping while Canada, Japan, England and Australia even after piling more and more restrictions upon gun ownership or outright bans, see violent crime steadily climbing.

In short...BECAUSE I CAN!

To protect Canada😉, their tank is in the shop this week...

Here's what Gun Tests has available for sale this month:

GUN TESTS INVENTORY AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

This is the monthly list of test inventory available from Gun Tests magazine. Here are the ground rules for purchasing test products:

Unless otherwise noted, the goods are in at least Excellent resale condition, and in many cases they are Like New.
Most of the products have their original packaging and warranties or warranty cards enclosed.
In almost all cases, the magazine article about each gun recounts all the rounds shot through the guns. We won't sell products that were defective in our tests.
Products will be sold to you at our cost plus shipping, saving you hundreds of dollars in some cases. However, we don't always get great deals on test guns, so we can't always offer you a great price. IF YOU CAN BUY A GUN CHEAPER ELSEWHERE, DON'T TELL US ABOUT IT, GO FOR IT.
Once you receive the product, the magazine will not be held responsible for any damage that occurs from use.
All sales are final.
If you request a gun and we've still got it, we'll ask you to supply a copy of your current mailing label (on the back page of your magazine) or your reader code number (listed on the top of your address label, if by email). We offer these products only to our readers. You can fax the label copy to the contact listed below, or email the number with your request.
We generally have only one test item for sale, so these products are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We use the time and date stamp on email, faxes, or envelope postmarks to determine which reader asked for a particular product first. We immediately notify you if the product you want is available (and supply purchasing instructions), or we advise you that a product is no longer available.
No whining allowed.
If you're buying a gun, at some point we will ask you tosend a copy of a signed Federal Firearms License from a license holder in your area. We will contact the dealer to ensure shipping the firearm to him is acceptable, and that local firearms laws and federal checks will be performed, where necessary.
You will be responsible for any handling and log-in fees the receiving FFL holder charges, local sales tax, and local/state/federal gun-law checks.

I can't believe it, someone that owns a gun and is HONEST.

You are more likely to shoot someone you know or get shot by your own gun then you are to shot someone that is breaking in your house.

And for all the dumb rednecks here The 2nd amendment does NOT protect your right to own a gun Open your eyes and read some Supreme Court papers and old documents, and you will see the the 2nd amendment protects a state gov.'s right to keep a well armed milita, or as we call it now aday, a national guard.
