The same reason why people in other sports try to get the refs/umps to call fouls in their favor.

Not so much football, but it seems to be pretty bad in basketball. Not faking injuries, but players seem to be pretty animated when they get knocked down. 😛Originally posted by: NSFW

The only football players I have seen do this are kickers. And we all know that kickers start out playing soccer.

I don't watch much football yet I apparently pay more attention than you. I see every position on the field, usually not in the same game, but the point stands - they all try to pull it. Position doesn't matter. You try and milk the system for all its worth when your playing full intensity. If you aren't, you really aren't trying hard enough.
If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying, at least not hard enough. 😛
Any injured person can stand their ground in an American football game, but noway in hell anyone can run 2X 45 minutes with a broken ankle in a real football (soccer) game.Originally posted by: NSFW

I call shens. No one the hogs on the line are going to admit being really injured let alone fake an injury. Maybe a QB but they aren't really players.

You also couldn't compete competitively at golf with a fucked up ankle but that doesn't make it any better of a sport.
