Why do people like Costco so much?

Costco's return policy is second to none. Try this anywhere else.

After 2 years Jackie said she didn't have the receipt for the couch anymore, but the employee was able to locate the order on their store computer. She explained that she was returning the couch because her family didn't like the color anymore, and Costco gave her a full refund for the purchase.
Yeah, it's all in their data, don't need the receipt. They have categories in which they limit returns. I brought back a bottle of Tequila (unopened) a couple weeks after buying it but they won't accept returns on liquor.

Edit: I should have added that they told me that the ban on returned liquor was due to state law, IIRC.

When my daughter was in grad school she organized a bbq fundraiser for something. Hot dogs and hamburgers etc. Had 4 packs of hamburger buns left over (24 in a pack) she asked me to return. Took them back, gave me the money then threw them immediately in the trash. Said we can't tell if they were opened and something done was to them.

same thing happened to that couch

Greater than zero odds someone fucked on that couch. Who wants to buy a couch at Costco that's already been fucked on?

That's a totally bullshit excuse to be able to return something after 2 years of use and even the most generous policies should exclude that.

I think the store customer representative should be able to punch a customer in the face if they try to return something after using it 2 years. It should be like a gratuitous completely legal thing.

We all love Costco in my household. When I go get some stuff, I usually grab a rotisserie bird, that loss leader of juicy goodness.

This is what happens every time. I eat the wings and skin right away while I chop up little pieces for the cat, who is happily eating them off the plate in the photo, and Mojo gets big slices of chicken - here he is waiting patiently for his next chicken treat.

Easiest cheap dinner ever grabbing one of those, some tortillas, onion, cilantro, and serranos and making some nice chicken tacos skin and all, though half the time I go there to pick one up I end up getting a dog and a slice and saving that chicken for tomorrow's dinner. :tearsofjoy:

I tried (a quarter of) the new Costco food court chocolate chip cookie. Came away pretty disappointed. Like an inch in from the edge was dry and hard.

They had the ability to go back to the straight churros, but they did this. Granted none of it's health food, but I sure as heck don't need an 800 calorie cookie.

Aren't their churros supposed to be terrible too? Every review I have seen on youtube craps all over them.

Went to a different Costco yesterday to get some other good stuff not carried at my preferred club such as a Greek cheese.

Also got 6.5 lbs of pork belly. I'm a single guy but this is all easy enough - split the pack into two, put them in ziplock freezer bags, I'll cook one portion in the next two weeks, and the other a month later. Bought the lightest two pack of flank steak. Froze one, other is in the fridge to cook on Mon/Tue.

Also found three packs of organic tempeh. Bought two, put one in the freezer, and will cook the other over this next week. Giant bag of cape code tuscan chips, the amazing fucking deal of delicious nine nearly 1L cartons of chicken stock for nine bucks. The 9 L of organic coconut water. Found a delicous container of Ithaca jalapeno lime hummus which turned out to be my favorite store bought hummus of all time. Got the 10lb tube of ground beef for the dog you have to ask the butchers for. Raw honey for me yogurt. And some other things.

Costco can totally work for a single person if you shop deliberately.

This is what it looks like behind my leather couch though, costco storage 🙂

I'm single and have a membership, but I also have two deep freezers. Costco is fine in general, but the lack of the concept of checkout lines is frustrating. They also had to get a manager over to unlock the register because I have some kind of hold on my account because they owe me money. So now I have to go stand in line at the customer service desk before I can shop there again, which is not appealing.

The best thing about it is getting lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in season, but the little farmers' market near me is almost as cheap and way easier to get to, so idk.

Order online and use up credit?

I been slicing all the meat from the chicken and weighing into 8oz portions and freezing in bags. The rest goes into Instant Pot with water to cover, 44 minutes and when cooled strain liquid into jars and into fridge. When cold skim off the fat with spoon and jars go into freezer. This is bone broth that I use for this and that, full of natural collagen (got this tip from a nutritionist, but it's commonly known). Last bird I got was over 5lb.

I get over 1/2 my produce from Costco. I grow some, hit a local indy supermarket and occasionally Trader Joe's for the rest.

My Costco Visa CC is handy beyond just Costco: 3% cash back at restaurants and most travel, also gas stations.

We go through SO much of that coconut water.

We go through a crap ton of eggs at our house. Wife was doing a wally world order and a 60ct of eggs was something like $36! Apparently costco has a 60 ct. for like $18 or something like that right now. Problem is we're 30 miles away and aren't driving that far for eggs, and don't want to go because we'll buy more crap than we need. We sometimes get our eggs from my MIL, but her chickens aren't producing too many right now for some reason.

A month or so ago I was surprised to see the egg area at my local Costco plumb bare. A couple weeks later there was only a relatively sparse bunch of 24 count trays of what I usually get, pasture raised brown organic and it was at the usual price of $8.69 and I snagged one. This is California so if the news was right, the salmonella recall on these didn't affect us. But the bird flu epidemic has.
